Google Bans & Penalties.
By in SEO on 16th June 2007As every webmaster fears the great Google ban/penalty, these can be given on a number of levels depends how naughty you have been lately, now i know alot of webmasters are obligated to say that what Google is doing is unnecessary and its unfair to do so, well heres are some scenarios…
Duplicate Content/Spam Penalty
Imagine this, you are a directory owner, and daily people use new and creative tactics to send around a million new entries your way, all are automated and don’t stop for anything, now lets assume your directory is a quality directory that offers quality listings to its users that sends them a fair amount of traffic, after this huge spam session will they get the traffic they used to? No.
To maintain a search engine/listing’s quality its important to make sure there is no duplicate content or spam in that database, this only implies that you can’t get indexed for that certain part, doesn’t mean you can’t get the backlink from those duplicate content pages and get some linkjuice.
Authority/Index Position Devaluation
Well this certainly happens alot when and the factors are usually a massive drop in backlinks and as a pre de-indexation warning google moves you just a little bit below so that you can pay some attention to your site and get it back where it was by making some content and getting the relevant backlinks that your site deserves, its google’s way of saying “Hey, keep your game tight” and its good enough for webmasters to straighten up and obey it, not totally obey but kinda follow it.
