Blogs, Feeds and Backlinks. (Blogs and Auto Blogs)

08 July 2007 - By Ahson Rafiq - Filled in SEO

Ok we all are familiar with blogs in general and webmasters are more aware of automated blogs to be more specific, blogs are supposed to be human authored and as always are considered to be google friendly with or without any optimization if the content is relevant to the domain and other data present in that blog where as an auto blog gaters data via feeds and posts it at that blog as its own.

Now handling this as a market trend you will see how this gets more indepth, the basic idea that webmasters have about autoblogs is “free – fast – cheap content” now it may not be unique but hey it works well with adsense, it was ok for a while when google was naïve about autoblogs (yes it was once), we know that google changes its algo almost all the time to make the index more relevant, but before it wasn’t so autoblogs did really well in google and therefore landed a hell lot of keywords, spamming serps and what not.

Now auto blogs are considered as a “broken tool” what they don’t see is just because the content is discarded as duplicate content or the news middle man the links aren’t its still a site, it still has a unique c-class ip and it IS linking towards other sites and yes these are being counted but that’s not why I am making this post. Lets get down to it.

Blog Marketing

Now this is something most people DON’T know about blog marketing, we know TechCrunch the big tech blog, now a lot of people ask me why they have that great pagerank and all this serp power, its because it doesn’t mind autoblogs copying their content, yes its true they have no objection to autoblogs copying their content via feeds, but as wordpress works they are forced to give one sitewide linkback to the blog where the content is received from and I as a webmaster have seen over 2,000 automated blogs that feed of techcrunch so its more like linkbait x100.

Make addictive and useful content -> Do not object to copying/duplicating -> make autoblogs and spread them out -> Ka-ching PR! And some serp action

This is how many little webmasters have made their thousands, making one blog and spreading content, this is not only blog marketing but also content delivery specially when this goes into video blogs.

Now here are some pros and cons about blog marketing.

For the autoblogs
Yes you will be de-indexed
No you wont have many keywords at google (none at all actually)
Yes the links on your blogs will still count and you could sell them as well

For the main blog
You will stay indexed
You will have one hell of a backlink status
Fast and easy pr5 on the first update given you have 1-2 months before the update

There is more to this, stay tuned

Very interesting. I always thought that duplicate content would get the original blog devalued as well. if this isn't true I might start using this method to get extra links.
