I got an email saying if removing no-follow is the wrong way to increase site traffic then what is?
So here are 10 things you can do to get your traffic up almost instantly.
- First, SMM (Social Media Marketing) should be on the top of your list because its fast traffic, temporary, maybe 1 click per visitor but still its traffic, anywhere from 100-2000 visitors can be expected from this but do-not expect themt to stay for more then 50 seconds, yea its not even a minute but traffic non the less.
The conversion rate on SMM Traffic is horrible but digg does get you a better conversion on feed subscribers then others such as stumbleupon and netscape.
- Trackbacks for blogs, recently i talked about how efficient trackabacks are when you strategise properly to use them in order to get traffic, more info on this is here.
- Article Series, making packs or series of articles such as “Traffic Boosters 1..2..3″ can get you some really serious visitors that will definately come back over and over to check up on the latest series of articles on the subject, not only content , this works on design as well, when i used to own ThemeVibes, i made a series of design called the Rockstar Series and since the first design hit WLTC the whole thing just rocketed, around 5 emails every week coming in to ask for a new series to the whole rockstar line, i dont have stats anymore since its not mine anymore but i can say safely that i got 2000-8000 within 2 weeks just for the rockstar series templates.
- Interactivity, this is something that i myself have to implement for this blog as well, this can be seen as widgets, tools, galleries, anything either way off topic and fun or too on-topic and taken one step further, anyone can be a blogger, being interactive and fresh is what makes people come back again and again..and again. A good example is galleries to blogs, but then again this is if you have alot of pictures to show off and such.
If you are looking into tools, then try to be more specific to your site’s niche, that will get you more relevant traffic rather then random users who don’t quite know just what the hell you are doing at the site..
- Resources, this is one of my favourites, see everyone is good at something and/or passionate about it and does infact like doing it alot, like shoemoney likes to give advice on marketing, matt likes to be an all around tech guy,and i like to design alot, if you have that something that you like to do alot, use it and get provide resources or tips regarding what you know.
For example, i like designing, so i make wordpress themes and wallpapers for my blog, and they are all free to download aswell, that gives my blog that something different.
-Social Widgets, feedburner, technorati, blogosphere and the tons more out there , all just waiting to send relevant traffic your way, give them a go as well, what do you have to lose anyway?
Here is something you’ll probably won’t hear from others, Do not go with blogrush at all, i do not recommend it at all. not one bit.

I always use SU for my traffic, it can get me a few thousand uniques without any cost at all.
of course, the traffic never converts. But at least it gets you exposed.

why no blogrush?

Because blogrush is only for blogs in the top 20k alexa range, a blog like shoemoney.com gets hardly 600 uv from it, do you really expect it to get a new site 10uv/month? never!
Plus it shows sometimes irrelevant and adult links in their widgets.

my pr3 blog got 852 uv in the last 30 days from blogrush (only one referral). The blog is a year old. On the other hand, you are right about odd links. haven’t seen adult ones – but not much for my fashion reltated site.

well i beg to differ here, my technology related articles got more traffic / visitors from stumbleupon, and still continue to get it even after 2months of submission, but digg gave me a few quick clicks and then silence. so i still think stumbleupon can give you much more traffic then any one else. while my blog have usual visitor count 20-25 stumbleupon has given me 400 – 600 visitors per day on some occasions.
