Affiliate Marketing For Starters

Nov 29th 2007 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

How i wish i knew SEO while starting out in the MMO world, affiliate marketing would’ve been a piece of cake…ah well..lets get on with the post then shall we?

** Note : While working with affiliates i suggest any affiliate company out there EXCEPT CJ.com, this is due to personal bad experiences many sales that were never recorded and i just don’t tolerate that **

This article is targetted at telling you the best ways to go about with Affiliates without spending a dime, because..lets face it..while starting out you won’t have much cash to work with anyway and whatever cash you do have must be invested towards the backend (server..scripts..domains..etc). Now these are my tried and tested methods that i have used and had alot of success with as well.

SEO, is the best approach towards Affiliate Marketing, now a good pitch towards your customers would do good too but this is easier and cheaper, lets say you are an affiliate of a Hardware Supplier and you are selling products on your site or in other words leading them to the suppliers site, the best way to get POTENTIAL BUYERS is to search for them, don’t go around spending money on PPC yet, heres what you should do:

1- Google for terms like

Forum - Where do i buy hardware online?

forum-where-do-i-buy-hardware-online-google-search_1196368490812.png

Now, if you skim through the results you will find alot of forums “hopefully” and you need to post your links there, register as a member and say something like..

“Hey there! I buy my hardware and blahblah.com and they have great prices! You should go there too!”
This will get you targeted visitors only, the only people who will click the links will be potential customers, quality over quantity.

You can try the same technique with other sites as well, this is the best kind of marketing tactic that i have ever used because i don’t have to spend much money this way and that makes me really happy, you can pull in some really good customers as well as get a-LOT of link love to your inner pages and slowly you can add more interactivity to your affiliate site and have even more users coming in for more then just hardware..maybe hardware reveiws..etc?

Now google is not the only place you can do this try google search and technorati or even Yahoo Answers which in my opinion is THE best place to promote these products, here are screenshots of those queries, blogs/forums are good place to promote your products/site because they let you post on the same page as the question whereas most sites do-not have a user-based commenting system or a thread system.

In my personal opinion, Marketing Pitches SUCK if the product/service isn’t good the customer won’t buy it any dang way!

Blueverse Update - November 29 2007

Nov 29th 2007 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

Thought i should update where my blog stands in serps, keep in mind i’ve done little or no link building this month all the incoming links are from previously done link bait and/or natural links.

I am kinda happy about the current serps, with no work they look great, i think its time to get to the top for “daily seo” now ill get to work on it then..hehe.

google-position-tool-check-google-position-google-rank-google-ranking-check-google-rank-seo-tools-serp_1196366747968.png

Now this part is rather odd because according to my awstats im receiving my daily dosage of 500-600 uniques per day but these stats show that the traffic is dropping, I’m gonna wait 2-3 days before i start a traffic campaign or something..

And as always I’m gonna finish this post on a happy note, i got a Pagestrength of 5, woo!

Making Money With Proxies and SEO For Proxies

Nov 28th 2007 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

This was an idea for an e-book something like mubin’s imagehosting ebook maybe?

But i thought “what the hell..lets post it up..” , these are really some simple tricks and tips you can do to have a good proxy network up and running…

First of all you need domains, new ones, if you buy pr domains that would just screw you over since they might be de-indexed already or might have a niche history (which ends up in less indexed pages for you) a new domain means a new start a new history for google to archive..

Now, proxies do-not get de-indexed easily i know that for a fact i have proxies with 30k+ pages indexed at google for over 3 months now and they are still doing their job like they are supposed to..

I am gonna go ahead and use one of my proxies as an example..

I have Myspace Temp as a proxy and it has 30,000+ indexed pages:

indexed-pages.jpg

If you look closely at the screenshot below you will see that the links at the top are linked to proxified pages of those sites, this maybe considered blackhat but it sure as hell beats the 4hr/day job of getting traffic to your proxies..

proxy.JPG

If you leave those links up there, google will pickup the pages from it as you get more links to the home page. The more indexed pages you have the better and as you get more authority or strength your pages will rank better which means more traffic!

And the bottom part is something i called “network wide port” i add a php function to the front page that fetches info/content from a file hosted remotely so that i can add/sell/trade links as well as try out new adnetworks whenever i want without going through the incredibly annoying task of editting the proxies one by one, its perfect if you want to run a proxy network.

Figuring out bad marketing bluffs/pitches..

This was so overdone that it was obvious that this kid wasn’t going to get anywhere in the marketing world with that kind of attitude, this thread at dp was posted a few days ago and since then it has generated alot of hype, and not the good kind.

This kid “Waqar Ali Shah” going by the name “manchesterguy” on dp, posted a thread on how he “alone” destroyed the entire SEO industry the minute the thread went live i knew it was gonna end in one of two situations on the Poster’s part..

“..And now i’m going to release this $500 ebook that will tell you all the secrets big SEOs don’t!”

or

“..Now heres my site where i blog about SEOs and how they are in reality so that you the users know if you are getting ripped off or not, now pay me for it!! its a once in a life time chance!! Don’t miss out!!”

I posted this because this is just one sad-sad attempt at selling ebooks or products online..

Now if a marketing pitch or any claim made on the web has the following characteristics, its pretty much a cry for money..

  1. Promising ground breaking or earth shaking results
  2. Claim to prove a 1000% profit on your investment
  3. Bashing reputed companies that earn 1000x what they earn (its jealousy, too obvious)
  4. Posting annoyingly long replies which are so long that they are borderline bullshit..
  5. ..And people who claim to be “experts” or “the best”..truth is no one is good at making money online, everyone lives and learns..

Top 5 Easiest Ways to Make 10-50$ by Freelancing

Nov 28th 2007 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

Thought i should break it down since i will be releasing a Free Money Book soon that will have tips on how to make money online, so here i go.

Before i tell you what you should do, you should know how to handle yourself as a Freelancer online..here are some tips for that..

  1. Be professional and precise about what you are offering and what you want for it.
  2. Do-not act petty for the smallest amounts of money, yes you need money but its not worth your dignity.
  3. Money first - then you do the work - Always! (Unless you are very unknown in that community or to the buyer)
  4. Never go against your word, ever!
  5. Never bluff/lie/promote your own self to such an extent that you can’t live up to the height. - Know your limits.

Now lets get down to the money making tips..these are incredibly simple and obvious to be honest..

  1. Link Services - Here you will have to do services such as directory submissions and social bookmarking for sites and/or go on a blog commenting spree on high profile blogs with your client’s url/title so that they get the link love and you get paid for it, so here are some of the services in this area that CAN be done..Directory Submissions
    Social Bookmarking (digg,delicious,stumble..etc)
    Blog Commenting
    Article Submissions
  2. Paid Posting - The most needed service by webmasters on the net is usually content creation, specially on CMS or Forum platforms, so if you have a good control over English and a can talk about any topic then this is the best choice for you. Here are some jobs that you could to get some minimal income coming in..Forum Posting
    Blog commenting
    Content Posting (images..etc)

If you have people who can help you do forum posting then you can definitely make a full time job out of forum posting.

  3. Member Generation - This used to be a really popular niche back in 2006 when there was a flood of forums everywhere on every single niche you can ever imagine of and people wanted content and members so they started paying for members rather then forum posts/threads, usually people who become webmasters have a good number of friends online from communities that is not directly connected to webmaster-ing/mmo so this is the best place to utilize that, make your friends sign up on other boards and get paid for it.

Anything can be sold if you have the right pitch.

  4. Designing - This is probably the lowest paid job you can ever get online if you are just starting out, so do this only if you have the time to spare, its better if you design for yourself since its cheaper and you save a little amount of money but if you have to make some money designing then go for banners and logos, don’t do templates since it has more variables to be dealt with whereas logos and banners can be tackled with and made more easily and sold for $5-$10 a pop. Premade banners help in sales too!

As an extension to this service you can also do watermaks on images so that people may use them on their image/wallpaper sites..etc

  5. Selling Resources - This is my favourite trick to make some quick cash, selling resources and information that webmasters need direly is the best niche for freelancers, here are some related jobs/sale items to this..
    • Info on PR5+ sites that allow Do-Follow FREE links
    • Info on Edu/Gov links where webmasters can get D0-Follow FREE links
    • Content packs (images,articles,ebooks..etc) - these are cheap to buy from forums and you can sell them at 1-2$ easily..
    • Reselling scripts.

Possible Shoemoney High Profile Sites.

Nov 28th 2007 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

I was just throwing a few queries at Yahoo’s directory, this was a fun one, i know i may be completely wrong but it sure is worth blogging since people keep wondering what sites shoemoney owns, so here it is..

run query

Frankly, I’m thinking of listing around 5 of my sites at yahoo myself, since for those sites i need pr and authority, my mfas do great without that much authority.

Making an E-book - The best way.

Nov 28th 2007 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

Its a 2 step thing to be honest, or at least this is how i do it.

First you open up dreamweaver and whip up a page, a really really long one at that, and add images/css whatever your heart desires something like this:

Next go to Adobe Acrobat and Click Create PDF

Select “Create from Website”

Choose your HTML file for the E-Book

Processing..

And viola!
My Free SEO Book came into being!

This might be helpful to many people who are trying to make it big in the ebook industry.

Lowjack for your usb devices - iHound

Nov 27th 2007 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

ihound-logo.pngI’m marking this as a trend here, i believe that pissed off people such as Mat will one day make tracking every single item on earth convenient and do-able by satellites and what not.

Apparently no matter how far we go in the area of technology there is always someone doing something really interesting here, the reason that i blogged about this was that this is indeed a developing trend and I am almost sure that we’ll see some more tracking related startups soon that target more then just the usb industry, maybe online scripts? maybe music? (my bet is that vbulletin might be going for tracking systems for their software)

It would be interesting if there was a tracking system for everything that webmasters use to make money such as ebooks and little money making scripts as well. i know well that there is always encryption and the more complicated tracking servers too, I think there just might be a startup like that, that would allow tracking for ebooks, documents, php/asp scripts and stuff we do on a daily basis.

Link Building Strategy - PR on inner pages.

Nov 24th 2007 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

I already know it as a fact that Links to a homepage of a site gets you more indexed pages, but what about pr passed on to the pages below it?

Its always interesting to see webmasters buying “deep links” on forums and directories, i consider this as an unwritten rule that i follow while link building for a site, unless you know that your site will never get deep links on its own you should only do linkbuilding for the homepage, and have all the links that ARE available on the site “site pages..etc” on the front page, so that whatever link love you get for the front page eventually passes on to inner pages and links as well, the more pr/strong pages you have the better your site will be structured.

You can usually check the pr of each link on a page using iwebtool’s visual page rank, here is mine:

iwebtool-visual-pagerank-_1195969777937.png

As you can see that the most inner pages on my blog have low or no pr at all, thats because all the links are leading to the homepage and they are yet to be passed down to the innerpages, getting a pr on your inner pages can be quite difficult its like a sign of mid-high authority (having pr on inner pages) so as far as i can see i’ll have a healthy number of inner pages with pr on the next update not to mention my pr5 homepage.

IF you are doing link building, make sure you stay on your niche with it, either let it be the title of the page, the name of your site or the keyword you are aiming for. You have 3 choices to make. Do-not go off topic.
