Trying out RescueTime - Gotta optimize sometime..
By in News on 15th November 2007
If optimizing sites for a living isn’t enough i’m gonna go ahead and see how productive i am, lately i signed up at Rescuetime which just came out of beta, what it does is.
- Tracks what urls and applications you are using on the pc.
- Collects the data on your pc
- Sends it back to their site
- And then its ready to be tagged and sorted out
You can tag certain urls and applications and activities such as work, fun, research, blogging,dp forum…blah blah blah
I suppose at somepoint you as a manager are at fault by not putting in enough time into your sites/projects, at least thats my way of thinking, everything in online development is a variable its up to you how you control it, here are some of them.
- Site Concept
- Scripting/Coding
- Design and Research
- Optimization
- Monetization
- Publicity
- Advertising
- Marketing
- Server/Backend hardware
- Maintenance
- Statistics
- And now myself.
I’m gonna give it a try for a week or so, and see just how much time i waste in misc stuff.
The reason im expanding my reach on variables in development is my recent find on how the oddest of things can cause the biggest effects, and a proper webmaster has to see all sides of the scenario before making any haste decisions on the project, concentrating on just one point never works, no matter how good you are at it.

Wow. I think this is cool. Just one question - is this program free?
