Google Click-to-Call - Free Calls to Businesses
By in News on 17th December 2007Heres something interesting i found today its called Google Click-to-Call, this feature will let you place a free call to a business that you find on a result page at google, here is a screen shot:

This is pretty sweet to be honest, i found that while going through my serps, the ad generated from this page
I thought this would be a good way to prank call people around the world for free with just a click on the mouse and cause the adwords advertisers to lose their money, but its not so, google will treat this the same as “Invalid Clicks” and won’t charge advertisers for this.
I’m not sure what would happen to the phone numbers involved in the “spamming” but i think they are going to be banned from their call-able numbers..
What if someone enters my phone number instead of theirs as a prank call? Google takes fraud and spamming very seriously. We use technical methods to prevent future prank calls from the same user within a reasonable period of time. You won’t be charged for any such calls. Please contact adwords-support@google.com if you believe someone is entering your phone number without your permission or knowledge.

That is such a cool concept introduced by Goggle but I guess most of the calls are intended for US customers.

This is undoubtedly just another innovative idea from Google. It’s also nice to know that Google has put appropriate measures in place to protect & safeguard the interests of the advertisers.

Yeah, I could see the prank calling getting bad. But if google only lets logged in users call, then it should be fine.

Definitely cool. It was only a natural addition to the service; see something you like? Have your phone called to be connected. Makes the whole process seamless and easy.

It’s good that they have a protection system built in so that people can’t prank call a number, but as it stands, it seems like an excellent system for businesses to get customers.

What a great idea! Google is doing everything it can to keep hold of its lead in the Search Engine industry, and it’s doing a really good job of it.

This has been out for a while now. It’s a good service, all I need to do is click and input my phone #, instead of having to dial the businesses’ phone # on my own.

Sure google is being “extra” careful about spam. How could they possible know whether the phone number you enter is yours? This is just another tool for telemarketers.
