By Ahson Rafiq in Blogging on 21st December 2007

Everyone wants to be interesting, charismatic and what not as a blogger. Here are some tips to make your blogpost more interesting!

Attractive Headlines

The headlines are the first thing the users/visitors notice before going on reading the actual post only if it’s interesting enough, this topic is best explained by CopyBlogger on this post : Cosmopolitan Headlines
The more curious your readers get the better, its a good thing to get people confused about the topic at times, and its true what they say “Sex Sells” and this is the saying at practice.

Interesting and High Quality Images

I find this to be a really effective way to get readers to get more involved in your blog or maybe just consider the post for a full read, lets face it no one wants to read when they want to learn something everyone is lazy and i consider myself to be one of the most laziest i might even be on the top 50 or maybe the the top 20 even, the best way to get people’s attention is images related to the topic or if you want to go in a totally other direction get totally unrelated and vague images as long as it looks good it doesn’t matter a lot of people have done this successfully one of the blogs that use images is ProBlogger.

Here are some great resources to get images from - given the fact that you will be courteous enough to link back
But remember, you should only add images after you are done writing the post its much like the icing on the cake.

Use 3rd party content. (text/audio/video)

Rather then linking to other content you can embed it into your post or if its text you can add it as a quote and leave a link back to the original post that way you can keep the readers already reading your blog, this is one of the biggest reasons a blog loses its readers, when you are a new blog just springing up from nothingness you can’t go around linking to high profile blogs once your reader goes over to that blog you can waive the reader goodbye, so keep it within the blog that you are writing on.

A good way to go around dealing with 3rd party content could be screenshots as well you can just take a screenshot of the part you want your readers to know and post it within the post. If it’s video then the resources are way too much heres a list of video resources that allow embeding:

If you are going for audio then i would suggest going for podcasts, that way your readers can get to know you on a higher level and feel the sarcasm in your voice as well, i find the sarcasm to be a much better bait for a blogger it creates controversy while keeping you in the green zone, sweet ain’t it?

Polls, Surveys and Ratings

Don’t you love it when you feel like you are a part of something?
Readers love knowing the fact that by reading a blog they were a part of something if you put up polls or surveys for a topic to get more info on the subject by using your readers and let everyone know that the data will be used in the following post then that will entice your readers to actually go through the poll or survey hence giving you more user interactivity, a new blog usually gets no comments unless its something really interesting because its a known fact that 70% of new blogs online fail to become successful.

Free Stuff

This is my favorite and most effective tactic, give away free stuff or blog about free stuff one of the best examples here is Smashing Magazine and their latest giveaway the Dilectio Smashing Wordpress Theme. In my case i design and giveaway several kinds of wordpress themes myself which includes my oh so awesome Adsense Optimized Wordpress Theme : Weblogger. Giving away free resources not only gets you relevant readers but it also gets you more experience and more content to blog about so its a win win situation you get more info to blog about and better your skills and your readers get free stuff. If you blog about a topic and then give away some links or free resources regarding that topic you will get a more positive reaction from your readers, after all who doesn’t love free stuff?
