Blogging will at some time replace big media. Magazines and newspapers are already feeling the strain. People are getting tired of the bias of the talking heads in media. They find through blogging that they can get the whole story, not just what some company wants them to know.

I don't think video blogging will every totally replace the written word, just as television didn't replace newspapers. Some people are just more comfortable at typing than shooting themselves on a webcam. So there will be room for both.

I don't think there is an end in sight. I do think at some point, as with all technologies, there will be a shakeout that will distinguish those that blog for the passion and those that blog for money. It will come, but it will be a slow progression.

It's hard to say on where this will all end, especially since not all are switching over to video blogs but many still staying with the more classical approach of typing. In about 5 years from now there'll probably be a great gap between the more traditional blogs and video/photo blogs.

Whereas currently the same platforms are pretty much being used for both we'll probably be seeing them split apart, giving both sides of the blogosphere a platform completely adjusted to their desires and needs.

One thing which we'll probably keep on seeing much and much more too are blogs simply aimed at getting money, consisting of nothing more than sponsored posts and totally flooding the blogosphere even more than they're already doing now.
