Google Announces a Follow-Up on Changes To Referrals
By in News on 20th January 2008I guess if people make a big enough stink, Google will listen. It is apparent with Google’s recent announcement that they are listening to disgruntled webmasters who don’t like the changes that were recently made to the Adsense referral program. They have listened to the feedback received and decided to make an amendment to the original pay structure to be dependent on where your referral comes from and not where you are located at. I’m sure it had something to do with Gnet’s post about Adsense Referral Units, when Gnet talks Google listens.
This means that you can still live in any country and make decent money referring those who live in North America, Latin America and Japan.
This gives webmaster a reason to keep targeting quality traffic and to be able to get quality users to refer to Google.
It makes sense for Google to structure it this way instead of cutting you out of the money altogether if you live outside those certain areas, after all it’s the new referrals that mean the most to Google no matter where you are referring them from.
It’s nice to know that Google is listening to it’s publishers and referrers to the program.
They also mentioned that it has been reported many users don’t have any Adsense referrals showing in their stats. Google reports this is just a display problem and that it will be fixed as soon as they can get it done but your earnings are still there adding up, they just aren’t displaying.
You can read about it for yourself at the Google Adsense Blog to find out in more detail what changes have been made to the recent announcement made by Google.

I think it is great that Google is listening to people’s feedback. It makes great sense for them to do this. I would love to hear a follow up story on this
