Microsoft + Yahoo = One kick ass ad network!

Posted by Ahson Rafiq on February 1st, 2008

Apparently microsoft made a 44 point something billion offer to yahoo, people are concentrating on what would happen to yahoo as a search engine but what about the adnetworks?

Yahoo has the highest payouts and Microsoft provides the hihgest ROI that i know of, if msft buys out yahoo and they form an ad network that would pay out like nothing else online, ppc wise and cpa wise. Personally i support msft to take over yahoo, as far as i can see:

Yahoo is a portal - more user oriented - more interactive and entertaining - its based on services for users like games, news..etc its main functions include mail, gaming and news not search.

Microsoft offers a number of services just like google and are really good at them too, at a seminar months ago they stated “Google is good at search we are good at everything else” i’ll post the source as soon as i find it. Msft is also doing amazing with its search engine most of the traffic to this blog is from MSN search anyway.

Above all that :

  1. Yahoo has way too many failed projects in the past
  2. Yahoo was never considered seo-able
  3. It fluctuates more then google does
  4. Its serps are really confusing, misleading and in some cases useless

I’m just waiting for the takeover to happen already so that i can milk their adnetwork ;p

  • Not only would Microsoft control the biggest site on the internet, they’d control the best ad network as well.

If that takeover ever happens, I can’t wait, it will make such a difference on the web world.

  • If they ever merge together then it will be overall good because people will have more choices in choosing their PPC ads, which will entail a win-win situation.

  • Yahoo is now said to be refusing Microsoft’s offer on Monday. The company says that the offer of 31 dollars a share is too little. No word yet on whether MS will go up on it’s offer or if another company will make a higher bid now th at they know Yahoo considered it.

  • I think that this would be bad for yahoo as a website. In my honest opinioin, I think Microsoft would not help the site in growing and revolutionizing. Yahoo could make a great amount of money off of this.

  • Microsoft had a great gaming site that they got a hold of. This is the MSN Gaming Zone…They ended up losing a lot of their users because they took out some of the best parts that made the site as big as it was. What’s to say that they won’t do the same thing to Yahoo? I don’t think that Microsoft is a company that improves, I think there are a company more focused on their own creations rather than others.
