While I haven't done a video blog, I do know quite a bit about camcorder behavior in various lighting situations. One thing I would add to your description is to recommend a manual focus. The last thing I'm sure any performer wants (blogger or whatever) is the camera inching in and out of auto-focus as you move, basing it's decisions on the curtain behind you and not you. While more of a problem in lower lighting (inside), it can happen in daylight too, depending on the camera. Fortunately most camcorders come with a manual focus. All very cool advice. I say invest a 100.00 to the pure digital flip, it will do a good job on the audio side!
