Huge drop in feedburner readers.

By Ahson Rafiq in Blogging on 21st February 2008

The feedreader count updated almost an hour ago and i realised that i had lost 50 readers then i started looking around and i saw most of my i-make-money-online-by-telling-people-how-much-money-i-make-online-john-chow-dot-com_1203630468625.pngblogs lost alot of readers, but it doesn’t stop with just me, i remembered reading a post from johnchow that said he had broken 16k readers so i went over to his blog and was shocked to see that he had lost 6,000 readers over night, its really weird I’m waiting to be updated on this matter soon.

My best guess is that the most idle email subscribers were removed from the reader’s count, bu still it doesn’t make sense so many peope won’t just get up and leave in an instant like that..subscribe to my blog for more updates on this matter. Below is my screenshot, for a growing blog such as mine every single reader matters.

Yeah, it had happened to me too. As you’ve said, this could be caused by idle subscribers not really checking up your feed. But then again, when a large number of subscribers get removed, I wonder if it’s really a idle subscriber miscount. I mean, 50/300 is 1/6th right? It wouldn’t be so strange if it happened in the course of the weekend. But it’s really weird when it happens right in the middle of the week.

Then again, there might be numerous facts that we don’t take into account.

    Cheers!

Is it possible that they haven’t done a weed in quite awhile and just decided to do it all in one day. For instance, perhaps idle subscribers from the last 3 months or so? Not sure how feedburner works, but looking at it from a programmer point of view.

Bro do you know where I can check the number of RSS subscribers on Wordpress? I might be able to count them on my fingers, but still it makes it exciting to see the subscribers count increase slowly. Let me know!!
