Wiki Love from Google..
A search within a search, who would’ve thought google would give out its primary funtion to another site’s benefit, this just goes to show how much google loves wikipedia (and a few others) because of its authorititative content, the new search box for wikipedia helps people to search within wikipedia’s site (i’m guessing all the indexe pages at google), it is an effort on google’s end but it seems like reaching a bit too much and pushing people to use wikipedia more besides the fact that most webmasters are complainging that wikipedia ranks higher then they do on keywords that they specialise in, at least this feature came out of google beta then those weird search index options feature..

Some other site’s that got their search boxes:
- Bloomberg
- Wikipedia
- BestBuy
- NYT
- Amazon
- Microsoft
- Associated Press
- Asus International
Although all queries are kept within google it still looks like to me that google thinks wikipedia can satisfy user search queries better then other websites can, at some level paid content (monetized) has much more up to date info with references and different media types to state the topic where as wikipedia can only give you links within wikipedia to references and images of course, but sometimes a normal person’s view is what searchers are looking for, not authoritative content. Its just like knowing the coolest guy in college, although he’s known among everyone and considered cool by many doesn’t mean that every single thing he states is what the people want to hear.
I wonder if they can provide search boxes just like site links for normal sites like mine, what do you think? would that be helpful to you as a webmaster and a searcher?
