Better Blogging – Dealing with Personal Life topics

31 March 2008 - By Ahson Rafiq - Filled in Blogging

There comes a time when every blogger wants to share something about what is going on in their personal life. Although this can be good, it can also be bad for a blog focused on a specific niche. It is just a matter of how you go about it. Let’s go over the good and bad of blogging about your personal life.

Instead of spoiling you with the positive benefits that blogging about personal life topics on a niche based blog has, we will give you the negative effects that this can have.

If you have spent a little time looking into how SEO works, you know how Google checks your website for relevance depending on your main topic. You want to make sure that you don’t blog about your personal life on a niche based blog too much. This can hurt how relevant Google deems your blog to be. You definitely DO NOT want this to happen. After all, a good search engine ranking is the best thing any blog or website can have.

Blogging about personal life topics on a niched based blog can also have a negative impact on your readers. For example, if you write too many blog posts about personal life topics and not your specific niche you can risk losing your readers’ attention. They are most likely at your blog to hear about the niche that you are targeting.

Those are the main bad parts of blogging about personal life topics on a niche based blog. There may be others, but you should have a pretty good idea by now. Let’s get into the positive effects of blogging about personal life topics.

If you have blog posts about personal life topics, this can help your readers better understand who you are. The curious can finally have a chance to solve their curiosity about who you really are. Again, make sure that you have more blog posts about your particular niche than personal life topics that aren’t related. This will assure you that you have your main picture in focus.

You can also include personal life topics in blog posts that relate to your specific niche. This is done by relating your life to the niche that you are targeting. Just like it was said earlier, this will give your readers a better understanding about the kind of person that you are. Not only does it do that, it isn’t off topic and fits right into your niche based blog.

If you attend an event that is related to your particular niche, this is a great opportunity that you can blog about the event as well as what you are personally doing while attending the event. This won’t be a blog post that isn’t related to your niche based blog. It could also have the possibility of generating new readers while you are at the event.

There is a time and a place for eerything. You need to keep this in mind when you blog about a personal life topic on a niche based blog. By doing this effectively, you can attract new readers and increase how often your readers read your blog posts.

Thanks for the help! I usually post personal life stuff so readers can get to know me better. Though now when I started a few tech posts, and changed my w-p theme, no readers have shown up. (But that doesn’t mean they don’t like the changes the just haven’t seen them. :-( ).

Nothing seems to be easier than seeing someone whom you can help but not helping.
I suggest we start giving it a try. Give love to the ones that need it.
    God will appreciate it.
