As a network blogger, I know just how hard it is to get a blog up and running up to the point where it actually makes some money. Along the way to that money blogging state, there are going to be alot of hurdles mostly mental blocks and problems that you have to deal with, here are my experiences and some solutions.
Frustration
Getting a blog to finally make money has to be the hardest part in blogging, the frustration that comes along with it is really extreme because the work that you are putting in, you want top dollar for it and the common advertiser will not pay that, most people look for the responsiveness towards the niche before buying ads on the blog. This has alot to do with your RSS readers and traffic to not the blog’s homepage but the inner posts.
This kind of frustration of feeling helpless infront of advertisers usually leads to bloggers selling quality links to underground scum link buyers that buy up in context links for 6 years at a really really small price and in return they get something worth alot more because every blog on the net that is being targeted for links is quality, if it wasn’t then linkbuyers won’t contact you in the first place.
It’s always to get a 2nd opinion from a friend or a constant reader so that you would know if theres something that you are doing wrong. The most important things to remember in this state are:
- Never sell out to underground link buyers.
- Make sure your price is reasonable according to the market rate
- Never to panic in that state
- Know when to raise the price and when to go down in order to have a long term customer.
Results
Usually what I do is I make an article that I’d hope would get viral or would get alot of response (over time) and hope for the most extreme results in a short period of time, this is a really bad habit to have if you plan to be a blogger for a living. Everything that you do online for your sites flourishes and gives off results over time (slooowwwly) , that’s why there’s always a timer going on in my head whenever i get one set of results from a tactic i used at my blog until i get results from my second tactic.
Everything from links to feed readers takes time to build up and show up later on, the same rule applies here, never panic if you are doing something (new) then wait to get the full effect of it and if it still isn’t working then you can go ahead and search for new options. But giving up after the first few quickies is a no-go.
Depression
Upcoming bloggers that are still striving to get their blog’s income to stabilize have a really hard time ( i feel all of you out there ) doing just that, at some point these hard working bloggers can’t find ways out of the problems they are in and they end up giving up their blogs to someone else. This is one of the reasons that blogs sell out so fast after starting off. I’m not going to say its a bad habit because it’s just human nature to stop doing something that’s hurting you that much. Working so hard on a blog and not getting any results is a really hard thing to deal with. Remember to always revise your tactics on the blog and know your next move, selling out should be your last option.
Happy blogging everybody.
