Misc Ramblings - 16th Apr 08

Comment (1)By Ahson Rafiq in News on 16th April 2008

This month has been like a roller coaster ride for me and my blogging journey specially, the growth on this blog has been substantial and really amazing, i did expect it to be huge but not this fast but not enough i guess, most bloggers talk about how they get offers from interested webmasters concerning buying out their blog, usually this is 10x their revenue, I was kinda hoping to get offers too but apparently i got none, its not that big of a deal for me but it is infact an ego downer. Yesterday i saw my blog’s selling price at 45n5, pretty impressive that it could sell at $8436. The price was calculated per subscriber to my rss, the rate was $18.something

Moving on, i changed the title and overall genre of my blog from seo to make money blogging because its what i talk about the most here, tips on blogging and how to make more money from your content, so yea, i think its a risky move but i’m still going for it.At the moment, I rank as follows.

Besides from that, these days everyone is trying to sell out their blog mostly because of the fact that summer vacations are coming up and they need cash to live it up or in some cases they want to start an even bigger project (hard to believe, but true). I would suggest selling out too because it’s all about making money through blogging, either keep the blog and work more on it then earn more too or sell out for a huge check ;)

Work and Play - Why “me-time” is important.

This post was due a few days ago but i wanted to get my facts straight so i took my sweet time, Mubin had an interesting title of a post that was “Blogging can kill you“  which was based on this article on the ny times’ website, So it made me want to take a closer look at my schedule and figure out if i’m on a good health plan while making the most money i can, as it says in the article at ny.times, if you induce yourself into blogging completely, it can cause alot of damage to your health, such as laziness, obesity and alot of movement related issues. Mostly on the hands part (because of the typing).

So my schedule pretty much revolved around when i had something really solid and important to blog about here, this doesn’t include dev time i spent on my other sites. Apparently everyday i had at least one new thing to talk about blogging here. The more passionate i am about blogging the more readers i have the more my current readers are happy and the more better my blog builds up.

Networking up to success

Comments (0)By Ahson Rafiq in News on 12th April 2008

Networking is critical for businesses, websites, blogs, and many other things that people choose to do. Why is that? Well, let’s just put it this way, networking is defined as the gathering of acquaintances or contacts. By having many contacts and acquaintances you are putting your name and whatever you are promoting out there for everyone to see. People talk and when they talk you want them to talk about whatever it is that you are doing. This will give you a massive amount of exposure if you use networking in an effective manner.

There are many ways that you can take networking to its fullest potential both online and offline. Just remember that it takes dedication in order to receive the maximum potential of each option. Once you put in the work, you will be happy with the results as long as you network consistently and effectively.

First, let’s take a look at the ways that you can network online. There are social media websites that have a large user base and enables networking with others in a pretty simple way. The first one that I will bring up is Facebook. Facebook is similar to MySpace and it seems that it is getting to be used more often than MySpace. This doesn’t mean MySpace still doesn’t have its place on the Internet, it just means that I have seen a lot of MySpace members delete their account and move on to Facebook.

MySpace is one of the traditional websites used for networking with a lot of people. It has tons of members just like Facebook. MySpace is a pretty good website to meet new people and this is probably why it has grown quickly.

  • Sponsored reviews
  • Sitewide links
  • in-context links
  • Sponsored wp themes
  • Spam comments

Better Blogging - Write even better!

Comments (0)By Ahson Rafiq in Blogging on 11th April 2008

It doesn’t matter what you write about on your blog. You want them to be read by your readers and not ignored. If nobody reads your content, you’re just wasting your time that it takes to write it. There are some things that you can do to make your blog posts better and some of them will be discussed in this post.

Provide what you told the reader you were going to provide them with.

The introduction is what usually grabs a reader and gets them to read the article. Try to resist the temptation of putting information into the blog post that doesn’t have an immediate effect to what the reader is expecting from what you have already told them. It is a good habit to start with the strongest point, this way your readers don’t lose their attention real quick.

Add a personal touch to your content by using your personality.

Unless you blog about your personal life, your niche can be saturated with great content already. This makes it harder to have unique content on your blog. By adding a personal touch, you can interact with your readers on a better level. The only thing that will set you apart in a crowded niche is your personality. Relate to yourself in different ways, use the “I” perspective, and present the points/ideas in your own viewpoint. This will help set you apart from other people in your particular niche that could have already wrote a similar article or blog post.

Having Multiple Blog Authors

Comments (2)By Ahson Rafiq in Blogging on 10th April 2008

There comes a time when you have to decide whether to do all the blogging yourself or have other authors contribute content to your blog as well. Depending on what kind of feel you want your blog to have, your decision will make a long-term effect on your blog. Let’s go over what each option has to offer you and your readers.

First things first, let’s go over what kind of effect doing all the blogging yourself will have on your blog(s) and readers. If you want to create a more personal feel to your blog, this could be the option that appeals the most to you. With just you blogging, your blog is centered on your personality. While this can be good, it can also tend to overwhelm you with work. This would be more likely to happen if you have multiple blogs. While you would spotlight your personality more by being the only one blogging on your blog, you will also limit the amount of diversity that is shown within blog posts. This isn’t saying that you won’t blog about the different topics your niche has to offer, it’s just saying that different people have different ways of doing things and you may not notice certain things others tend to notice.
