I was just browsing the top blogger’s as usual to see what they are up to, sometimes I like to go to the actual site rather then just peek at it through my feed reader, Shoemoney, Problogger and Johnchow seem to be going down in alexa, this is a shocker for me because I’ve never seen this blogs drop out of the top 10k alexa, at the same time I’m kinda happy because my blog is growing, below are the traffic graphs for the blogs I’m talking about. Now, before anyone jumps the gun in assuming why I’m basing my opinion on alexa, well, everyone has their own way of measuring traffic and I know theres alotta hate out there about Alexa but none the less it’s a great traffic analyzer, I for one, depend on it quite alot
I also know that alexa has been changing it’s algo lately but that doesn’t mean the top sites on alexa would be effected this much, now could it?
New algos are supposed to remove any bugs in the system that are producing false results so the new results must be the ones that have gone through the process and now they rank much lower then before, frankly I think these blogs were kind of over estimated on the traffic area, then again I could be wrong. But still, It’s something to think about when you are looking for “idol bloggers”

hum… when alexa updated it’s way on how they rank sites, some bloggers noticed a big drop on theirs ranks… maybe it was that..

Alexa goes up and down but I’ve not seen any noticeable decrease in my own traffic.

Darren, I know you didn’t have a drop in traffic, I was talking more about how alexa ranks a site on their system, I know a few blogs that get around 5-10k uv/day and they were stuck in the 100k area for 8 months.
Now, if webmasters earning that much traffic are stuck in the 100k mark, the problogger rank a month ago seemed pretty huge.
After the new algo at alexa, the ranks started to drop for most top blogs, that only means that they were ranked falsely. Thats pretty much what I was trying to say there :p
