Which types of websites make money online?
That’s the question I’ve been hearing alot lately, so I did a little research online plus a little of my own stats I gathered up overtime through blogging and webmastering. To be honest any niche that you are passionate about can make insane amounts of money, everything depends on how much you are willing to do to for that niche. The most common niches that people seem to lean towards are finance, credit cards, insurance and those types of topics because of the high payout on the affiliates in those fields. Some of the money making website types are as follows.
Wallpaper Sites
I know this from experience because I own one wallpaper site that makes a considerable amount of money and requires really low or no maintenance at all, sites that can generate interest and serps as fast as wallpapers sites are the most profitable because of the fact that content needs to be always updated but images are always the same they don’t need constant updates so that if you cover a whole category of wallpapers then you wont need to update them anymore and the interest will still be there among the users, wallpapers that they can’t find else where they just might find it in your site.
Below is a screenshot of my wallpaper site as you can see I’ve done alot of customization to the original script and it’s well worth it because I consider that site to be half way to max monetization. Adding a search feature to any site is even easier for me now because of the adsense search ads, it allows me to only allow it to search certain sitesĀ to produce results, that enables me to make search engines for each site I have that doesn’t have the search feature , not spend a dime on more coding and make a little cash out of it as well.
A CSS Gallery would fall into this same category as they use images as well, there isn’t any real content as the main aim of the website but still it makes money because a css gallery’s purpose is to find and publish attractive webdesigns, that serves the purpose of a top rated designs list and an inspiration gallery too. Observing top rated designs on the net, designers can have more motivation/inspiration to go with a certain style.
Niche Affiliate (Reviews & Articles) Blogs/Sites
These type of sites have the potential to make alot of money because their revenue is only generated through their affiliates, CPC ads are just another option for them to pursue but most affiliate sites don’t go for cpc if they are already going with an Affiliate, this niche is particularly easy if you are passionate about the niche it would be easier to write articles and reviews on products and articles. The better the content is the more leads you will generate, alot of people have found success doing this.A very common example of this are those hosting review sites, they get paid upto 100$ per sale they make through their site.
Automated/MFA
This is my fav type of sit, a site that updates itself and generates content through apis that are being updated constantly is what makes the most money because of the serps, a common example here would be using those youtube apis, youtube gets user generated content almost every second, tthis content can be added to your site’s db using apis, and using the db you can make a seo friendly site and let the serps do the work for you. I’ve even made nearly 2000$ doing this, but at some point my scripts weren’t up to the mark and they stopped being indexed. A new system is needed here, thats all, and the whole mfa niche will have a huge comeback.
Membership Sites
These type of sites are usually seen in the PLR niche but lately alot of sites that offer products individually are making membership offers because these sites offer constantly new releases at a stable price per month. A membership site is a really good offer for the end user because in these projects the end user is getting a really good deal (a certain number of products every month, at a stable price).

Hi Ahson, good stuff, again.
By the way, I have a question about wallpaper sites you mentioned. Where do you those images from? Are any copyright issue with those images? Thanks.

I have the same question as the previous user. I have several of my own images I would like to use, but what about the other images such as models and stuff. Do you have to get copyrights? Are they considered public domain and if so how do I find these images? Thanks!

Great article. I think this is a great summary of the different types of sites that you can create to make money online. I have been getting into this in the last 6-12 months and I’ve chosen to work on Affiliate and PLR sites. I’ve been really seeing some success with the PLR sites. I’m not a great writer, but I’ve joined a decent PLR site just like you mentioned in your article. The site has provided a really good amount of products that are of pretty decent quality. I take the products and re-write them in my own words and add some value to them and then sell them for a profit. I just found your blog today, so I haven’t gotten to read through it completely yet. But some info or tips on that would be great! Thanks and keep up the good work!

I have a shitload of established maintenance websites I want to rent out. They are all SEO and most of them have first page listings on Google and Yahoo. If you already have your own maintenance crews, that's great, but I used them to subcontract, basically answer the telephone and do the billing. You don't even need to be geographically located where the websites says. If it sounds complicated, it's really not, and I'm desperate to rent them out before I start college.

Desktop wallpapers sites can earn money but it's not as easy as it used to be what with all the different screen sizes and ratios (normal, LCD, Widescreen, etc) so creating / finding desktop wallpapers for all those resolutions and making thumbs for them can be somewhat hard work, but then I guess if it was too easy we would all be doing it….

Thanks for the great information. I’ve been conducting a ton of research on this over the past two weeks.
