Well, Yea..It seems like a good idea again, at first skeptical but the way WP Themes are working out at blueverse, then why not a site made just for the wp themes that I make? I already have a design-ish-like
domain that would work out great with it, maybe you all remember it, cssFEDD, the css gallery!
And not just that, I’ve also already designed the theme for cssfedd and the first free theme that will be released later on when cssfedd is online as well. I’d like some feed back on it. There’s alot to be done and considered before I go on making a wp theme site like this, points such as.
- Should I offer Premium/Paid wp themes as well?
- Should I just make a membership site?
- Should I offer sponsored wp themes?
- Should I sell links to make money?
It doesn’t seem as much if you read it at first, but when you really think about those points, each point takes you in a completely different direction for the site, if I choose carefully now, It will help me in the long run,big time.
You can see the drafts of the themes below, this isn’t really the final draft, atleast I don’t think so, there will be alot more work done here, I still haven’t decided any monetization strategy here, but I know one thing here, a wordpress theme per week, every week one free wp theme release. How does that sound?

Hmmm..it could be a good idea, but if your looking for any profit from this don’t except any money in the beginning…this will most likely be a long term project that you’ll have to stay on top of…unless to really like making themes…

You can make a site for wordpress themes only. But I think you can announce your new themes here as well. and that other site will be the place where we can view the demo, download it etc.

Wow! Thank you! I always wanted to write in one of my sites something like that.

I have to agree with Urban Fashion above. This will take some time to make any money. One thing you can do with Free Template sites is this:
1. Get their email when they downlaod the template.
2. Build a list
3. Send out "offers" to the list. ie. "Buisness Cards for your Blog" Get an affilliate code to a printing company and away you go.
You will obviously need an auto responder to do this.

Providing (free) wordpress templates is certainly a very good idea since on one hand you can thousands of inbound links to your site/business, and on the other hand you bring a huge service to the bloggers community!
About selling templates: you must weight the link importance and value the links may bring towards the revenue you get from selling….

One free wp theme per week? Sure sounds like a good idea to me! You'd be making your templates go viral, I think. I haven't chanced across any updates on this post yet. Let us know the outcome? Thanks!
