I’ve seen people screw up new blogs over and over again so I thought why not make a post on it, the top 5 mistakes new bloggers make with their new blogs. These mistakes usually lead to a combustive failure. a roaring spam blog or sometimes just something no one cares about. If you are reading this and have a blog then you are in it for the money not literature, so listen up carefully.
Crappy Themes and PLR Articles
Yep, mots new bloggers are naturally attracted to the most crappiest themes you can ever find on the net despite all the top theme lists available online, it’s crucial that you pick out a good theme first then think of the next step, get something that sets the over all tone of the blog and looks professional/elegant at the same time.
Now on to the content, if you think that using PLR article packs to start a blog is a good way to start something unique then you’re dead wrong PLR articles have been used and used and overused some more through out the net, its a major dup-content issue. I only use PLR articles when I just wanna build up minimum PR so that I can flip a blog. Save yourself some regret later on, write your own articles.
Do following comments
Giving out free do follow links on the homepage is another thing, having irrelevant links within your post pages is another. If you let your blog comments be do-followed then you’ll be listed in alot of spam lists across the net, then, you’ll be spammed like non-other. Comments coming in from every direction just for a link on your post pages. On the other hand that could be a good link building strategy, if you get some pr announce your blog to have do-followed comments, then, when you are in alot of lists around the net and it’s growing, remove the do-follow tags from comments, and reap the benefits from the links you get, although that could be bad, since you’ll be mentioned in alot of bad neighborhoods.
Get some PR, give out top commentor rewards as homepage links, save your blog’s authority.
Never over-monetize
It’s one of the biggest reasons why people never visit a blog more then once, the first impression is a total disaster, when I see so many ads on one page, it’s pretty clear to me, that the blog owner has no intentions to build a useful resource, it’s just a space filler so that he can earn some quick cash. A good example is this blog.Actually, this is a good example of my first and third point, dup-content and over monetization…total disaster.
Letting your blog go..without content
Post frequency is a major factor in the increase of your rss readers, if you have some consistency in your post frequency (PF) then you’ll have some gradual growth going on at all times, take my blog for example, I started with 10 readers now I have nearly 800 readers through consistency, I know it’s really hard to get your first 100 readers but the least you an do is try. And I’ll give you a tip right now to get you some readers going on :
Getting more readers:
- Get some plr pack with tons of stuff.
- Add a new page to your blog.
- Add the download link in your feed using a RSS Footer plugin
- Tell people to subscribe to your feed via email to receive all the goodies
- Promote it on forums!
..And that’s how I got my first 200 readers on this blog.
Getting over the initial failure
I know that people have this image of blogs in their heads and they think that blogs are supposed to be some kind of magic money machine that grows to great sizes without just a bit of work, well, thats not true at all, if anything thats the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever heard. Blogging is hard, it takes skills, passion and most of all a single minded devotion to a niche. If you give up in the middle of the initial growth of your blog and give up, then thats it, all the big bloggers around the world today, they were not an instant success, they worked hard.
Don’t give up on blogging just yet, or atleast wait for my post tomorrow on 20 reasons to not give up on blogging.

Some blogs have so much advertising and so many widgets that they take forever to load and can even cause the browser window to crash. All that does is force me never to visit again…

Good advice.
I have a hard time just cranking out posts myself, I set pretty high standards for the amount of new content I have to have in my posts, which limits my productivity, sadly.
Don’t do as me, in short.
