For once, I’m happy to have a low reader count, atleast I know I earned them.
Great, that’s all I needed to know..if the feed burner reader count is hackable who knows how many blogs have faked it already by now and sold for god knows what. To be honest I think this has been done to atleast 30% of the blogs by now, which makes me even more pissed at this. I did try to search a little bit more on this topic but didn’t find any real evidence that this was fixed, most buyers usually base a blog’s value (or a sponsored review’s value) on it’s RSS readership.
There is a video and a whole post explaining how to do it but I wont even bother posting it here, soif you guys think I’m holding back on you, think again, that’s just a trick not a skill. If you want to be a good blogger, then be honest with your readers and your advertisers, give them value not hollow promises. These days I’m conduction several blogger interviews, if you read through them you will see that all of these bloggers have worked hard on their blogs to get where they are today and not waste their time conducting shady pratices.
I would also like to include that I do know that this hack can be used to make some quick chunk o’ cash but having a really unique blog with readers that love your content and appreciation that you receive from the blogs around the world is worth far more then what you can ever get using sill tricks like these.
Content is king, it’s been said over and over again, yet people try to find easy ways out, every single blogger that I’ve interviewed believes in hard work, it’s not as easy as it seems or some people make it out to be, it takes dedication and alot of long nights infront of the pc researching topics and most of all it takes a fair amount of love, if a blogger actually wants to succeed he or she will take extra care of his/her blog, care about every single step, every single tactic, every single post and make sure that every thing on his blog gives his/her readers the best out of him/her.
After knowing this, makes me question alot of blog’s authority, only the ones that are being sold faster after their initial launch, atleast now I know what to look out for.
Finding out about the feedburner hack was a real shock to me to be honest, to all my readers, Practice ethical blogging, it’s worth it.
Safety Tip
If you are going to buy a blog which seems to have a big RSS feedcount, get some screenshots of their feedcount break down, if most of the subscribers come from only single source, then you should re-think buying that blog, take special care while buying out blogs, it’s trickier now.
