Moniker – Screwed me for 40$ – Bad Support..

05 September 2008 - By Ahson Rafiq - Filled in Webmaster

Okay usually I don’t care much about money but this was about Gurilla, I realized that the domain was due to be expired next month, so..I renewed it for 4 years it gave me an error and brought me back to the payment page so I tried again…I checked my email and guess what 2 payments of 24$ sent to Moniker

That just pissed me off so I opened a support ticket and complained, and they renewed the domain for one frickin year instead of 4 and refunded 9$ not 24$ (which they don’t deserve since they didn’t give me that much anyway) then the support staff told me it was resolved…I replied…and I’m still waiting around 2 days later…

To be honest, when I registered Gurilla , their service/authority was so amazing, I was pretty much blown away by it..now..wow..yea that rhymes…I don’t even need the money back, just add the damn years on the frickin’ domain already!

Sorry to hear that. I think you choose moniker as registrar because they offer cheap price right? Well, I suggest godaddy (6.99 with coupon) or namecheap (8.41 with coupon) for domain registrar because you can always get discount (coupon everywhere).

I personally used namecheap and it has no problem for me so far. Pretty good service with namecheap too

Your post will hopefully get them to wake up. It looks as if some back office nerds seem to be handling the problem. Perhaps you should escalate it to the top!

Sorry to hear about that incident Ahson. My experience with Moniker has been fine (although their response time could be better) so far. Hopefully things clear up even tho it seems like Moniker is unwilling to do so.

wow that sucks, 2 days is a pretty long wait. i would consider switching to another registrar

That basically sucks doesn’t it. I have a couple of places I host my web sites and one of them did a similar thing. At one point I added a subscription to the account so I could pay it automatically. Well I ended up paying manually and automatically for a while without realizing it.

They didn’t give me my money back but at least the subscription was stopped and I didn’t have to pay hosting until it was caught up. It took months to catch up but just this month it’s back to normal and now the subscription is activated again and working normal.

I hope that they give you your money back and renew the domain name for 4 years.

That sucks. I would hate to be in your position.

Btw, I have heard that you should use IE to make purchases and such. It is more reliable in that respect?

I have never made online payments(i use a local hosting company).

  9. Moniker Sucks Says:

Moniker sucks. Their support sucks, and they will never release a domain which rightfully belongs to you when you attempt to transfer out. They basically have you by the balls since they know you’re not going to litigate over < $100 item. It is very frustrating working with them — I’ve had numerous complaints and extremely bad support. They are without a doubt the worst company I have ever done business with. I strongly advise against even considering working with them.
