Never thought I’d say this but wordpress 2.6.2 is a bust, I tried to update to the altest version of wordpress last night and to my surprise I got errors on the upgrade page (I had a backup anyway). This was a very first, never have I ever had any problems with upgrading to the latest wordpress version. I even made a support thread at their forums and got almost no help (also a first).
For now, I’m on Wordpress 2.5 which seems to be working the best at the moment, for anyone thinking of upgrading to the latest 2.6.2 version, do not upgrade to 2.6.2, it might just screw up everything and theres a 60% chance you wont be able to get it back. It took me nearly 48 hours to roll back to the 2.5.2 version of wordpress.
On a side note, for this month I’ll be trying out adding ads into every post (post pages) to see if it has any good impact on my revenue or not, oh and 2 new wordpress themes will be released in a few days time.

Ahson, I’m really surprised to hear you had problems with 2.6.2, did you do an incremental upgrade or straight from 2.5 to 2.6.2? In the future, remember to always to a backup

did you manually do the upgrade or use an upgrade plugin?

odd; i’ve never hit any errors while upgrading to a newer version, unless some files were chmodded incorrectly.
Looking forward to see the two new themes.

I am avoiding this version because I had the same problem with the first blog I updated. I know that the process is quite fast, but if you have more then one blog, then it quite gruesome to see that the updates are coming in short time periods. Bah, I’ll wait for 15 more days, maybe 2.6.3 will come up

I have similar problems. Should admit wordpress 2.6.2 involves many flaws and requires much time for their resolving

I have a site on which I have uploaded 2.6.2 without any problem. I simply had to use Filezilla to help the installation. The process advises taking back up and reinstalling.

I wonder about the upgrading regularity of various individuals, and if more people upgrade for every version that is released, or if most wait for multiple versions to come out before they go for the update. Some might wait until something goes wrong or is vulnerable before they do so.

we tried installing 2.6.2 and although it was never a problem before, this version will not work properly: logging in with the provided password at the end of installation keeps resulting in an error message …

I had no problems updating my sites so far. Strange since you seem to use hostgator as well. Well sometimes strange things happen
