Blogs are among the best ways in promoting your business, while at the same time they are a good avenue in speaking your mind and communicating with people who possess the same interest. But not all blogs become successful in bringing in high traffic and income to your site, most probably because they are not effective enough in conveying your message and attracting visitors. Hence, you must learn how to come up with an effective blog.
But how do you actually do that? Below are a few important points you must remember in building a highly effective blog.
1. Always keep your entries fresh.
If you are just starting out, it is important that you consistently post new entries to your blog. You hit two birds with one stone by doing this, first is because your target audience is always in search for something new, and second, search engines love new, fresh pages. You must then make it a point to post new entries at three to four times a week so both your audiences and search engines are updated as well.
2. Write inviting article titles.
If there is one reason why some highly interesting articles are left unnoticed is because they do not possess the right title. Learning from this, you should learn how to create attractive, killer article titles that are related to your post. Readers look at the title first before anything else, hence if they don’t find your title inviting then they won’t take time to read your post, no matter how informative and helpful it is. Catch their attention!
3. Place the ads in the right places.
Ads are of course your ticket to income generation, especially when your visitors click on them. However, when placed in the wrong places, they would end up despised. This is an important strategy you must learn to master. Placing the ads in the right areas of your blog can be quite tricky at first, but once you see favorable results, you would then know what to do. Among the most strategic places are the top center, or in the middle of the body of your post.
4. Allow everybody to comment on your blog easily.
Comments help boost your blog’s popularity over the web, hence you should make it easy for your readers to write comments on your articles. You can toggle the option of making them register first before posting comments, and from there they can post whatever rants and raves they have on your entries. Comments also tell you which areas you have to improve on either on your posts or on the whole blog, and in a way they help you construct a better blog in the future.
5. Utilize the white space.
Another thing you must remember in constructing an effective blog is by helping your visitors read your entries easier. This is where white space becomes handy. Rather than using a dark background and catchy font colors, try to place your entries on white space. Use a white background instead. This way your visitors get to read your blog with much ease, and at the same time locate the links they must click for you to earn money.
6. Write about other blogs related to your niche.
There are times when you are out of ideas to talk about, and that’s normal. If and when you come to that point though, you can resort to making a review about other blogs that are related to your niche. You then get to solve your writer’s blog, while at the same time create an avenue for link building. Your audiences would as well appreciate this deed because you’re offering them bigger avenues for help. Most of all, the blogs you have featured will return you the favor-hence the link building process begins.
7. Create a smorgasbord!
Your posts are not limited to articles people are obliged to read; not all of them are avid readers after all. You can then post informative photos, videos, music clips and news bits to make your blog more than just a place for income generation, but at the same time an information hub. Some people are more interested in news updates as they only have inquiries to ask, hence you get to feed them with what they are looking for.
8. Highlight your keywords and anchor text.
Finally, you must take note that not all your readers know the ins and outs of the web, and some of them are not even aware of what they are browsing on. You can help them avoid going to the places they don’t want to go to, and lead them to the right direction by highlighting your links and anchor texts. Keeping your keywords bold and underlined (for some italicized) gives them the signal that these are doors to new pages, hence your visitors would know where to go.
