This is like my little guide on what you should consider or do before picking the perfect niche.
So, we all know what we want a niche to do for us but not the specifics you need to know about what a niche should contain in order to produce those kind of results, here we go.
Marketable to a creative extent.
Most of the niches are limited to certain types of marketing methods but then again you can get creative with just about anything, if you can reach out through just about any medium to advertise your topics, services and/or products you have a much better chacne at surviving and making money as well. I know that general niches that are marketable everywhere are taken but there are a ton that can still be explored.
Find a niche thats not marketable in general but easier for you to market and get around as well.
Unlimited resources/updates
The more updates and resources there are to that niche the more you get to make money, if you have a niche on something like a type of phone and more specifically a certain model of a phone, it would only go for so long until the niche expires and you lose traffic and almost any interest in that field. A good example of unlimted updates is the lyrics business, songs come out everyday and people want to see their lyrics so they search for them, the leading lyrics sites get the most attention that way and make money though.
Nice, Easy & Cheap
Taking on any niche that’s expensive means it’s high mantainance as well, so it’s better to go with something you can manage easily and cheapy too, the less money spent is more money earned and the rewards and profit is much higher if the money spent into it is less, that’s a theory I literally live by, for example, blogs are easy to work with, cheap to advertise and they earn alot more then other websites and easier as well, blogs are much easier to sell as well since the cms is really easy to mantain.
Under your control
If you’re getting into a niche you don’t have full knowledge about then ofcourse you’re gonna fail since you’ll have to depend on some other person or resource to help you with the niche in the first place, doing some research on the niche is good too but the insights are really hard to get when you have no prior experience with the niche you’re considering.
Do your homework or don’t get into that niche at all.
Alot of revenue streams
The perfect niche has alot of monitzable assets, the more the better, more revenue streams mean you have a much much better chance to strike profit in the first few months since advertisers are always looking for more and more ways to advertise on a site rather then just banners and links, for example, my blog not only provides banners and reviews but services such as content writing, designing and consultation as well, that gives me an edge in my income reports and earning more.
Think it through before you take the leap.

They have so many unique tools and plugins now a days that have made affiliate marketing a breeze. It is still important that you are building profitable niches that are still making nice money

It sounds silly but another important thing is to make sure there IS a niche before you try and pick it. If you pick a topic that nobody searches for or cares about, you're not going to get much traffic.

I agree it's important to find a niche, but I think if you're good at what you do (i.e. blog marketing) then you should be able to prevail in a wide range of circumstances.

Finding the right niche is really important and a lot of things need to be taken into consideration. Finding an up and coming niche is a good way to make money but you need to hit it right and do a good job

I think the most important thing is to have interest in a niche before you get into it… Doing something just to make money may work to some degree, but I'd rather have a strong interest, and so would the readers – It's easy to tell if someone is interested and knowledgeable on a subject. Those are the sites/blogs I'll go back to. Also, figure it's better to make a hundred $1.00 leads vs. a few $10.00 leads.

Nice tips. It's easy to find different advices on the net, though. There are plenty that say one can build a successful blog even with little knowledge. From my experience, it becomes a maintenance nightmare.
