Catching up on reading other blogs…damn there’s way too much going on

25 January 2009 - By Ahson Rafiq - Filled in Blogging

After around 4 months I thought why not check my rss reader now I went on this blogging trip where I wanted to get all of my thoughts out the past few months and now that I started skimming through all the posts I realised theres just way too much useless info out there now, it used to be really good but now it’s just confusing and so very long, after 15-30 mins of reading I finally gave up on it, right now I’m using the basic trends and personal experiences from the market to blog a bit more insightfully here, after all isn’t that what blogging is all about in the first place? Giving your own opinion rather then reading up on oother blogs and just talking about the same old crap they are talking about?

Right now, going in a new direction for this blog seems like it was the right decision after all, I saw this saying somewhere I just can’t remember where:

There are a million or so blogs out there, some of them have to be good

I’m starting to see why that person said that in the first place, it’s just way too much generic info out there, so this is a post on content structure mostly, so here I go.

Be as specific as you can

That’s why we have blogs in the first place, to be specific about a topic and explain it as much as we can, this is pretty much my initiative at the moment for atleast one season, I’m going to be specific about every single experiment and/or strategy  I carry out, so that everyone knows what the hell I’m talking about, other then that I’ll make sure I’ve covered any flaws in the concept before I post it out.

More interactivity needed..

Alot of blogs are following the same trend or should I say the same actions…it’s wierd, really. So, I’ll be trying some new techniques out, they might look and sound wierd but hey atleast Im trying to make a difference in blogging unlike some other blogs, interactivity is the only reason any blog has a chance to survive in any market.

Sneaky tactics are bad tactics

I’ve seen alot of bloggers passing off official competitions as their own and it really pisses me the hell off and on top of that these companies that are putting in all that effort and money into this competition are sometimes okay with bloggers doing that just so that they get mroe traffic, participants…etc

That’s just one example of sneaky tactics going on these days, I say no to every single one of them, the more transparent the better.

Blog income reports are so over rated and exaggerrated

When I started my blog income reports, I did it so that my readers could see what kind of strategies work and what dont, a whole month I try new things and post about it and at the end of the month I release the report, showing the results of the work that I put into the blog and the strategies that I posted in the first place for that income report to be built..but now when I look through so many medium sized blogs, all I see is fake comments, fake thoughts, fake quotes, fake income, fake everything.

It pisses me off too but I guess everyone wants some fame bad..

Anyway, that’s it for my thoughts today.

    Thanks for the blogging tips.

I agree with you on the blog income exaggeration, many bloggers feel the need to show excessive results to get readers.

Things built on lies dont last.

I feel you on the income reports, but when I asked my readers if they wanted me to do them they said yes (have to please them).

Good blogs are usually the ones with a personal touch – they're the only ones I read anymore – ones where people have rants and stuff is what its all about :P

I have just started a gaming blog and have been trying to read around other blogs to get a taste for what style of writing people like to see. I have come across so many different styles and types of blog. I have also seen so many different themes and graphics. It is difficult to pinpoint one style so i am just going to write it and then see whether people like it or not.

Yea dimagrire, I'm not a fan of the blog income posts. Part of me feels like this is bragging, and the other part thinks it's a total lie because some of hte blogs just aren't big enough to make the money they're talking about.

I think some peoples blogs are genuinly interesting and provide useful content and are really worth the read but then there are a lot of blogs out there that don't add to anything. Some weeks I can read similar posts that fair enough if there is a current topic but it is obvious some people just lift content and ideas – which is dissappointing.

I have read many, many blogs over the past few months trying to get a feel for the styles that work. I see many of the bloggers claiming to have earned $1000s and although I realise this is possible I really believe that some of them are exaggerated

  9. Classifieds Says:

I agree with all of these, there are so many blogs out there and some of them do lie and cheat their visitors. I think those blogs don't succeed in the long run

There are 3 types of bloggers. 1) Genuine interetsed in blogging. 2) For the money. 3) People in both categories that loose interested after a little bit of time then drop out.

I share the idea of running a blog both for self-realization and for money. Why so ? In my oppinion that helps to kill two birds with one stones and avoid extremeties. One can hardly find the style to cater everybody because it is impossible, tastes differ. But if the blogger likes his blog and does his work with enthusiasm and passion he will be sure a success.

  13. game-girl Says:

I totally share the idea of a blog being specific about a topic.Only in that situation the blog can arouse the interest of readers and have the amount of traffic.I like vivid discussions in the blogs on different points and seek any features of the blogger's personality there. As for the exaggerated earning of bloggers,it supports their self-esteem.

    Hmm, very cognitive post.
Is this theme good unough for the Digg?

  15. mark Says:

I guess you just really have to trust some blogger incomes, but, liek you said, they will most likely exaggerate it.

  16. mark Says:

It is way over exaggerated, although some people seem to eb doing quite well when they show the checks they make. don't think that is photoshopp'd.
