Let me start by saying I get WAY too many magazines. Somehow in the last 8 months, I’ve managed to subscribe to what feels like 50 different magazine and trade publications of all sorts. Some of them were intentional for blogs or niche sites I’m running, but many times I walk away from the mailbox with a fistfull of magazines wondering how I signed up for all of these.
One of my mental deficiencies is my sense of duty to read every magazine from cover to cover. I simply can’t bring myself to just read just one article and forget about the rest. I know, I’m broken. When I come across a magazine I actually want to tell others about, it’s a rarity. I don’t want to put others through the psychological hell I endure with my larger than life magazine pile.
Website Magaine is just such a mag. I picked up the last issue which had a focus on blogs and specifically profiting from them and I was pleasantly surprised. Typically in the Internet Marketing space, you have lots of fluff articles with barely anything worthwhile. Website Magazine had several substantive articles about how others are making money online.
To give you some examples, here are several articles I found helpful and thought provoking:
- Blogging for Profit – Discusses how to increase brand awareness, better cover your blog or business services and how you can increase revenue.
- Article Marketing Exposed – How to increase branding and exposure through article marketing as well as enjoy some serious traffic generation benefits.
- Top 50 Affiliate Networks – This was simply a listing of the top 50 affiliate networks, but I found a number on the list I didn’t even realize existed. Some great places to look for new offers to promote and/or look for increased payouts on existing offers.
There were actually quite a few good articles this month. Here’s the best part, if you don’t want to sign up for the Mac Daddy Internet Professional subscription, there is a complimentary quarterly subscription you can try out. You have to qualify, but most should be able to make the list.
Every article isn’t a slam dunk, but there are always ideas to be gleaned from different articles. And heck, you only need to get one halfway decent idea to more than pay for your yearly subscription. By the way, the magazine is geared towards Internet professionals of all types. Not just bloggers or Internet marketers. If you’re involved with the Internet in just about any capacity, you should be able to find something useful.

This is a new magazine for me. But I don't read 50 different ones a month so you definitely cover more ground. I'll have to check it out because I'm looking for some better affiliate networks right now.

I have no magazine subscribtions at all, which actually makes me a bit proud. There are 1-2 that I might want to get, but I rather buy them every once in a while, so I make sure I read them when I have them.

Nice work man, i like your way of writing!!!

I get this magazine too (maybe it's free with my webhost? No idea) but it's kind of annoying to me, because they'll mention a site to visit and then I forget about it – not like you just click on a link and bookmark
They had some useful stuff for complete beginners, but after you've been doing this awhile it's kind of repetitive. My daughter does like using it to draw on and cut up though, so I guess its a good one to have!

I'll have to check it out because I'm looking for some better affiliate networks right now.

I am interested in the magazine as there aren't that many good ones out there. Do you know if they distribute worldwide? I would be interested in seeing a preview.

hmmm.Maybe I should subscribe to some decent magazines (not 50, just a couple:)). Some inspiration is always a good thing. I hope we have some decent ones here in little Denmark :/
May 10th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
Is it really a good magazine? If yes i would love to subscribe with it. But you are doing great job 50 Subscriptions is lot. If you are reading all 50 then keep up the good work.

I can't remember when was my last time when i read a magazine. It's difficult with all these information and different sources to keep a track of the latest news. I am subscribed to some blogs but even that it's difficult to follow.
May 12th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
I will check this out, sounds good.
May 17th, 2009 at 6:32 pm

Yeah, a website magazine is sort of odd. I mean, a surfing magazine makes sense – because you get to look at pictures of places you may never go. But a mag about the web makes less sense, as reading a web address is a pretty inefficient way to discover new websites. Mags like this will probably fade the more the Kindle and its ilk take over.

This is a great magazie. Do not be fooled that it is free – the content is great

Although I usually go for the digital option, they also plant a tree for each new subscription, so definitely worth a look, thanks Ryan.
May 24th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
imagine how much you spend time in an empty reading all the articles in the magazine. dispose of them in the trash ..
May 25th, 2009 at 9:54 am
Unfortunately there are a number of affiliate networks that are just plain dishonest. Most problems lie with tracking, and commissions not being credited towards affiliates.
May 25th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Where are you? More than three weeks since the last post!
May 26th, 2009 at 12:01 pm
Ryan! Great post and useful magazine tips. You see, we all are suffering of the information overload, more or less, so if you would pick only one magazine, what`s your choice?

Wow, that is a lot of magazines you have. Same here, I always do subscribe to those kind of magazines that relates to my blog or niche. Sometimes no new buzz is written on the published zines.

Still waiting and eager to get information on what happened to your resolve and where you are now.
June 3rd, 2009 at 4:51 pm
Thanks. I don't have a blog, but I think making money from a site can be similar. It is hard, and I am searching for resources to give me advice.
There must be people out there with experience to share.

You know, I haven't been paying much attention to so many entrepreneur magazines the way I should. Is website magazine a new issue kind of? I haven't seen it around.

You have an excellent blog going here and I am glad that I found it! I can relate to your magazine dilemma, I also have a guilty conscience if any articles go unread…
June 13th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Its good to see that magazines are holding up better than newspapers, financially speaking. They must be offering better content for readers.
June 14th, 2009 at 8:16 am
The magazine definitely looks full of good reading material, however, you can find everything you need to know about creating a profitable blog online. No need to subscribe to anything.

Really superb post buddy! I will definitely check it out as i get free from my company seminar.
Thanks a lot and keep on updating..

Website magazine is a great mag, I read it regularly… remember:
1) free does not mean less useful
2) it's all about commitments, so better 2 or 3 mags and use them rather than 50 mags and read none of them!
July 27th, 2009 at 11:59 am
this is really useful resource, i have checked few from them but still many resources are remaining to check. i will post updates after completion of my reading
July 28th, 2009 at 4:18 am
I have read this magazine it is a good one.
August 22nd, 2009 at 6:44 pm
Subscribing to magazines in your own niche is a very good idea because you can check the competition and it can inspire you for your own articles aswell.
October 8th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
You generally get something out of every magazine that you read. 50 might be getting a little extreme though huh?
October 11th, 2009 at 8:42 am
I used to get all the car mags then moved on. After starting and ISP I got all these related mags constantly bugging me. At one point I was throwing out 20 pounds of the damn things a month. Had to put a stop to it all. I see the website mag only comes out 4 times a year with the free version. I may have to give it a go. I checked out the free sample online and it looked pretty cool. No one knows everything and I do need to keep up with what is going down online. Thanks for the post about this.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:36 pm
50 Magazines a month is really way high, i subscribe only 2 per month and i know i can't read more than that. I am more inclined to business mags than tech ones.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
It is great to stay up to date, but 50 a month? Seriously, where do you find the time?
January 7th, 2010 at 6:02 pm
I agree with u that web site magazines provides us very useful articles
January 29th, 2010 at 4:34 pm
A newsmag must anyway generate awareness and promotion activities. That revenue can be generated therfrom is insightful.
February 28th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
It is a good interactive method to generate awareness and promotion activities. Thanks for share
