I think it is the opposite. I think to think and act local is a bottom-up approach for business, whereas to think and act global is a top-down approach for business. Both approaches have it pros and cons. However, regardless of which approaches, it goes down to one key approach: goes where the $ is and we must be able to communicate with them.

Thanks for the post. I think localization is very similar to franchising. Take 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores as an example. The largest chain stores have almost 37,000 stores worldwide catering convenience and selling products/services to their local (even sub-local) community.

China has billions of people you would be a fool not to market to them too many people to ignore! The Internet is a worldwide market not just the countries we are from. I have also implemented a Google translation bar on my blog to cater to the non English speaking markets. Well said!
