I admit, I wasn’t (and still am really not) a Google Buzz fan. Probably the biggest reason is because I hate feeling like I have yet MORE messages waiting for me to go through. I like keeping my inboxes tidy and I’m a terrible multi-tasker with the biggest offender being email. So when Google fired up Buzz and started feeding random crap into my account, it kind of pissed me off. I even went as far as shutting it off. BUT….
I turned it back on after a day of being Buzzless.
What changed me from being a Buzz killer to a Buzz tolerator? An email that happened to hit my inbox from Darren Rowse over at Problogger.net (a great blog you should be reading if you aren’t already). He mentioned Google Buzz briefly, but said a couple of important things in the few paragraphs. The most important was, “Remember the principle of ‘build your network before you need it’ – I suspect this will be the case with Google Buzz.”
That alone was enough for me to jump over to my Gmail account and turn Google Buzz back on. Do I love it? Heck no. But I am learning a little more about it every day and have been playing with it pretty regularly.
I suspect that Darren is right about Buzz being one of those things that will be worth being in on the ground floor of. Not necessarily because it’s a great product/service, but because it’s freakin Google. Seems like they’ve got a pretty good batting average, and even just the Gmail users alone represent enough of a mass to get Buzz the notoriety it needs to succeed. It may take them a while or a few iterations to get it going, but it’s got a good shot at taking away some share from Twitter and Facebook.
Regardless of whether you like it or not though, now is one of those times in your life when you have the opportunity to embrace something new from the very start. In a couple of years instead of saying “I wish I would have gotten in on that from the start”, you’ll be saying “I’m glad I didn’t dismiss that from the get go”. It’s a good habit to get into that can have a huge impact on your web projects in the future.

I am just like you. I simply cannot handle what I already have on my plate. I am yet to activate Buzz, but you have now got me thinking. I hope that you will post again about it is worth your while.

How is someone supposed to follow someone using Google Buzz if they don't have a Gmail/Google account?
February 23rd, 2010 at 4:06 pm
Good post. Darren does make a great point. People who were in on twitter and facebook from the beginning are much further ahead then the people getting on board recently. You have customize buzz to work in your advantage.

Great advice! Thanks for sharing. I am the kind of person who somehow isn't really on the go when it comes to new things but like you said, now is one of those times in your life when you have the opportunity to embrace something new from the very start. I guess will be starting to use Google Buzz!

yes, darren is pretty correct that make it before you need. But this also a proverb and is not just sticked out to the google buzz here…isn't it?
February 24th, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Google Buzz is avaible?
February 24th, 2010 at 12:21 pm

While it does make a lot of sense to jump on board new social media sites early on, I won't be joining Google Buzz anytime soon. While Google has made lots of great products, they have had their fair share of failures. Just because they finally get around to launching a facebook alternative, it does not guarantee it's success. In this case, they likely joined the social networking party too late.

I agree with you it really sucks me also. I prefer to use twitter or facebook than google buzz.
March 2nd, 2010 at 10:53 am
I'm reluctant to start using Buzz even though I do possess a Gmail account. Thing is, nobody else I know has even heard of Buzz, and getting it would, like you say; mean more messages to go through…

Great post man, I have been using google for about 2 years now and I have never heard of Google Buzz. But now that you mention it that yeah ' I should of started that years ago" saying, I am doing research on the Google Buzz. Because we all hate saying that quote.

I have not activated Google Buzz yet as I just don’t have the time for it right now, but you do make a great point about getting in with from the start. I may have to take some time out to check it now.

Yup and this is one of the most effective way in outsourcing. Many people prefer to use the advantage of Google Buzz

I don't believe that it's possible at the moment. My recommendation would be to get a gmail account. (its better than yahoo) i only have this for yahoo answers.
March 4th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Can someone give me a SHORT explanation of Google Wave, Buzz?
March 4th, 2010 at 4:36 am
How is someone supposed to follow someone using Google Buzz if they don’t have a Gmail-Google account
March 4th, 2010 at 5:33 pm
Hmm, google buzz left me completely cold, I turned it off in a couple of days. Also, I was already familiar with Yahoo buzz and it just seemed like Google was trying to play catch up. I don't see any real benefit of Google Buzz yet, maybe soon someone will figure out how to make a mint from it and then everyone will jump on…
March 5th, 2010 at 3:33 pm
Ok. I have just dissed Google buzz on your first page on your homepage. Now you have me panicking.
Google buzz is just like twitter and facebook. Yes?
What is the difference?

March 8th, 2010 at 8:14 pm
Wonderful you made my day (sarcasm) another freakin thing to work my grey matter.. I haven't even peeked at but if Darren Rowse says pay attention O.K. I'll do it.
March 8th, 2010 at 8:21 pm
Embracing something new from the very start, uh? I was wondering if there were still going to be opportunities like these after so many years losing track of things. Thanks for the buzz pal!
March 9th, 2010 at 6:25 pm
Google Buzz is quite helpfull for web masters… I`m glad you changed your mind:)
March 11th, 2010 at 8:42 am

When Google announced Google Buzz, its new social sharing feature for Gmail, company representatives admitted Buzz was inspired by a similar product: Google Wave. In fact, some of the features of Buzz and Wave are so similar you might be wondering why there are two different products in the first place?
Both services are supposed to help you create conversations and give you a richer experience around Web-based media like videos, images ,and regular text. But while Buzz and Wave have a lot in common, there also some key differences that set each service apart.
oh.. copycats on Google

I must mention a point here though. Most of my friends use gmail as their official id. Yahoo is generally used as the personal id mainly because of its excellent messenger.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:52 pm
I was waiting for google Buzz for a long time… Google Buzz will rock all existing applications and will become leader soon
March 21st, 2010 at 6:09 am
Thank you for this information. It will be very useful for my blog.
March 23rd, 2010 at 12:43 pm
