30 Day Project: Shoemoney System Wrap-Up

15 May 2010 - By Ryan - Filled in Internet Marketing, Make Money Online, Reviews

First of all, let me apologize for such a boring 30 days of posts. I never would have undertaken this project on the blog had I known it wasn’t going to provide for good content. That said, here’s my wrap-up of my 30 day experiment.

It’s kind of funny because just yesterday I got an email from Shoemoney asking for my experiences so far. I thought I’d post here what I sent them since it summarizes my thoughts. Before we get to that though, here are my official stats:

Total Time Spent: 15 hours, 15 minutes

Total $ Made: $0

Overall Value (1 to 10): 1

One of the questions that I’ve been asked quite a bit the last week is whether or not I’ll continue. I will be continuing on for another 30 days and plan to post weekly if there is enough content for the week. I’ll keep you up to date. Maybe month 2 is the one where everything breaks loose.

My Shoemoney Story response:

City, State
Portland, Oregon

Income before ShoeMoney System and where you are at now. (roughly)
Income Before SMS:  $0
Income Now from SMS:  $0
This is a new, segregated project for me, so I’m not including any of my current online income.  I’ve kept all of my efforts to make money from the techniques taught over the last 30 days separate.

Date you started with the ShoeMoney System
4/14/10

The part in the SMS that really was a turning point for you.
Unfortunately there hasn’t been one. I was really hoping it would come, but there haven’t even been any “aha” moments. I had one “hmmm” moment with the eBay arbitrage videos, but that’s it.

4.  What you would say to your friends about the ShoeMoney System.
If I was basing my thoughts purely on the last 30 days, I’d tell them to not waste their time or money. The videos have come in at a VERY painfully slow pace. I logged into the system every single day since signing up and have watched every video I could get my hands on including all the tutorial videos (all of which I already knew how to do, but I was hoping for a nugget here or there). About a week and a half into it, I asked if I could get videos at a faster pace or get jumped ahead, but was only given the option to pay more money. It’s been a very disappointing experience for me and I would have just given up after about 2 weeks had I not committed to a 30 Day review on my blog.

I paid in advance, so I’ll continue on with the system, but I definitely couldn’t recommend it, even for newbies, unless they’re ready to pay for a snail’s pace of content. It’s also pretty eye opening to now realize that many of the gurus pimping the Shoemoney System seem to be making blind recommendations in the interest of just collecting some commissions. I’m a Shoemoney fan as much as anyone else, but I wouldn’t blindly recommend this system at this point without some disclosure.

That really sucks. Hope the next 30 days get better.

  2. Jimvesting Says:

Yikes! Haha wow… guess the hype around Shoemoney's big project was really just hype after all? I was told that this thing was getting really good reviews, this is the first sour one that I've read through. Thanks for posting, I'm definitely going to check back and see if it continues to fail.

  3. Web Design Says:

I guess many of the gurus out there are bridable by the commission offered and recommend things that they themselves won't be using.

Shoemoney is on point on most things, I like this one but last months article was great, definitely some nuggets in there.

  5. Andrew@BloggingGuide Says:

Weekly posting about your last 30 days with Shoemoney System sounds great since daily just makes it so boring. Will be waiting for your posts regarding it. Thanks for really sticking to it just so all of us, your readers, would know the truth.

  6. Anna Says:

Congrats for your patient holding of such an experiment! It was interesting to observe this process of exploring – I think it is very instructive for those who are hunting for easy money in the Internet!

  7. Laptop Briefcase Says:

No need to apologize for boring posts. If anyone should be apologizing it would be Shoemoney. At the very least this 30 day test shows the true value of this system, or should I say 'true lack of value'. Hopefully this will prevent some naive people from wasting their money on it. I agree with Andrew that a weekly update for the next month would be interesting to see.

Congrats for your patient holding of such an experiment!

  9. Sally Says:

I feel proud for your bravery to hold such a long exploration – and feel pity for the time you've wasted on this non-prospective system:(

  10. Nathan Says:

Ryan, your review is right on. I have been a member of the Shoemoney System since day1 of the launch (over 110 days now). Unfortunately, things do not seem to be getting any better. My original theory was that he was waiting for people to jump off after claiming their 60-day money back guarantee. Month 3, however, was a grind – average video length is about 6-7 minutes, and the pace of video release shows from one every 2-3 days to one every 4-5 days (doing the math, that is about equivalent to paying $300/hr for consulting). [continued next comment...]

  11. Nathan Says:

[...continued] Month 4 is unfortunately on par with this experience as well: content improves slightly, BUT I have now gone over 1 week without a new video, and there seems to be bugs in the video delivery system. A webinar from week9 REposted as a "new" video, there has been no new content, and a "catch-up" webinar that was held has still not posted a week later. What's worse is there is NO technical support. Big Shoe is 10+ days out on responding to emails (check his auto-responder on his blog) — IF he responds. His support staff consists of 1, and Casandra replies to 1 out of every 3 (or so) emails without even answering questions posed (very generic answers). Phone calls do not get returned either – which is awful becuase I am not even long distance (live 50 miles away from his office). Maybe I should follow my gut here and bail, reinvesting the money in my own experiments…

Now that's what I like to read – an honest review of a "make money" program where someone actually performed the daily tasks. Thank your for doing this, providing honesty, and letting us know that this program is not all it's hyped up to be. Too bad you can't get your money back.

Well done for your experiment. Will be waiting for your posts regarding it. Thanks for really sticking to it just so all of us, your readers, would know the truth.

  15. sexy high heels Says:

I have been following this review as well as another one and I am glad I did not believe hype regarding this product. As usual, this is just another "make money online" product while the creator makes all the cash by shilling something of absolute no value.

  24. Nathan Says:

Hi Ryan – yes I'm trying out stuff. I have a couple of FaceBook fan pages, have run a few ad tests, have tried to find products to arbitrage, etc. So I am actually trying to make the best of my "investment". Beware that you need to take his content (when it actually does appear) with a grain of salt. Regarding Arbitrage: make sure you aren't breaking technology export laws, abusing employee discounts, etc. – he doesn't warn you about that. Recall his "Rich Superhero" video: he *almost* got his pants sued off by Best Buy for this, and I'm sure that selling iPads to countries in the Middle East isn't a great idea. Also, set your budget before running ads anywhere, because it takes nearly 2 weeks to get through to the video how to save money running the ads by optimizing (where he is still thin on examples).

Wow, if you are interested this guy is selling his Shoemoney System membership at a discount (5 months in!): Ebay Auction ID 120573332921 . Seems like a good way to get everything up to this point right away without spending the time and full amount.

  28. Online Printer Says:

I think it's just wise to continue. Lets hope this works out in the very end. I'm not really hopeful, but you never know. I've heard positive reviews for this in other places. I'm not sure if they are willing to forgo their reputation just to make a sale really too.

well sometimes effort is not enough, especially if the landing page is not that well-staged to highly convert. but it would have been great if you succeeded on it. perhaps 15hrs, and 15mins were not enough, well that's how our world works, lots of testings needed :) but I'll watch out for the next set of challenges, and this also inspired me to challenge myself in attaining something like this.
