Non-Hosted Media considered spam?

Comment (1)By Ahson Rafiq in News, SEO on 27th September 2007

online-videos-from-home-videos-to-premium-internet-television-content-veoh-video-network_1190924466296.pngThis is an interesting topic, if you are using videos and/or images hosted on other sites as a the main topic on your site as if your site revolves around media hosted on other sites, not only duplicate content but its considered spam as well, if you are using a video from youtube named “idiot jumps off” obviously you’ll name the page its on the title will be something similar which leads you to rank for the same keyword based on more factors you might even take overpic_youtubelogo_123×63.gif youtube’s ranking on google (almost impossible) but still google rather be safe then sorry.

This post is targetted towards funny jokes, mfa video, funny pictures sites that take media from other sites to save on bandwidth.

My take on no-follow tags.

I read this post on shoemoney and i just wanted to say that for all internal links i use d0-follow tags, i’ve never removed the no-follow tag for any external links such as on comments..etc

This blog has alot of authority and i have no intention to share it with anyone…just yet.

DMOZ in and out of google, big deal?

Comment (1)By Ahson Rafiq in News, SEO on 27th September 2007

Dave reported that dmoz was out of google a few days ago now its back in, i wonder whats going on i doubt its because of the dupe found on aol servers, it may just be a back up and c’mon google gave it authority it won’t take it away just like that….would it?

Makes me question the whole “authority” that google assigns to sites.

Adsense and iPhone…ah crap…

Comment (1)By Ahson Rafiq in SEO on 27th September 2007

google-plugs-google-web-toolkit-for-iphone_1190908152843.pngI simply hate the fact that iPhone can be so good for the normal consumer and can suck so unbelievably for webmasters, when the guys over at apple were making the iPhone with all the pinching and poking did they not realize that these consumers may be horny and maybe browsing a MFA video site thats borderline adult themed and these users might pinch their way into the webmaster’s demise?

The answer is no, they didn’t think about that at all, while having several ad campaigns at google, they should’ve thought that the iphone wouldve reeked havoc on adsense publishers, the pinching and poking is very addictive (oh yeaaa) and people do it so much that the end up clicking several ads….and i end up getting warnings from adsense.

Live and learn i guess im disabling the browser agent “iphone” for most of my sites later this evening…

What not to do while making MFAs.

Well everyone knows google hates mfas but hey its quick cash everybody loves fast money and specially if its this legal!

Now spamming is wrong, im all for that but aggregating useful content in a tasteful manner should not be considered spam by any level, its just the best info in one place, nothing more nothing less, spamming is more like copying the content without crediting its owners and taking over someone else’s rankings.

Now i’ve been through my “MFA crazy” phase where i made over 60 mfa sites of literally all kinds (info, recipes,videos..etc) now i’ve already discussed that backlinks help a site (mfa) get indexed more faster and more effectively but if you are using Google analytics and Adsense together you better be careful because believe it or not 99% of the sites that had analytics on them got de-indexed in less then a week after they started earning form adsense whereas others kept on going as they were.

My take on this is that Analytics and Adsense has to be connected somehow on the backend, i mean its the only proof they have that the site is MFA, since all the traffic stats are being sent to them and they already have access to our earning reports, it becomes drastically easy for them to figure out that the site is Made For Adsense….pretty weird theory but it sure as hell makes sense to me.

Heres my list of DON’Ts while making MFAs..

  1. No Analytics
  2. Max of one stat counter service in the code
  3. Image based ads if your template gives it away.
  4. Proper meta kw/desc before launch.
  5. Make sure your content/topics on the sites are different (design does not matter)

The Directory Era Finally Fading.

Yea it was just a matter of time before google started de-indexing directories for good, in my opinion directories are the main source for spam and pr pimping on the net, some do provide very useful results but those will get the hammer too unfortunately.

Recently the alive directory de-indexation and now the zorg-links de-indexation, one after another each one will be taken out and if things go perfectly..dmoz is next

The google de-indexation week continues…its now a month :D
I’d suggest anyone thinking of investing in directories to think again and this time think hard.

Here’s another example…directory scams..hah never thought they would be this lame..

…need i say more?

More factors of indexation.

Just finished doing some more testing.

If you have an MFA the fact that there are more then 100k pages is obvious, now to get those indexed you’ll need backlinks lots and lots of backlinks, domain age or pr doesn’t matter a bit what matters is the backlinks going to the domain and/or inner pages.

If you can pull off 4000 backlinks then google will indexed 20 times the backlinks, yes i do mean 80k pages, thats what i learned from working on MFAs.

Now to focus on affiliates :D
