How To Be A Rockstar Freelancer E-Book Review

Jan 27th 2008 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

How to be a rockstar freelancer is written by Cyan & Collis Ta’eed, they blog at Freelance switch which is a really great blog for freelancers and people who live for the pursuit for money! :D

I bought this book around a week ago and just finished it and i have to say this book really puts things in prospective for a webmaster specially me, specially its finance management part which is the part i was really impressed of, it effected me because i don’t really manage money that well or at all for that matter.

The book goes over the simplest and the most complicated parts of freelancing and making money online while keeping your life intact, most freelancers or new webmasters tend to over do it when they start out and it completely ruins their personal lives and health. This book goes over time management as well and explains how you should manage your time between work and play time.

How to be a rockkstar freelancer is a one step how-to book for anyone looking to make a career online. The reason i love this book is because they haven’t left anything out at all not even the little things such as how to manage your online career and real life job, when to quit your job and how to handle a full blown business when you have made it!

The things i learned from this book are:

  • How to manage money
  • Branding
  • Distributing time between real life and online life
  • Spending money and saving it
  • Having a budget
  • Handling clients (multiple clients at the same time)
  • Caring more about health
  • Diversifying my interests in a better way

The ebook was a really good way for them to get more subscribers too, when i went to Freelance Switch i instantly subscribed to their blog and actively started reading it.

Ways to Make Money Freelancing Part 2

Jan 20th 2008 - Posted by Mary Stage

I posted last week about ways to make money freelancing, and thought that I didn’t get quite enough information in that post to really help you make money so I am doing part 2 and continuing on. You may see a part 3 part 4 and so on in the weeks to come so be sure and subscribe to the feed so you never miss a single post about how to make money freelancing.

You can make money freelancing any service that you do for your own websites. If you know how to effectively place ads on Craigslist.org and get them to stay listed for a long period of time, people will pay you for it. If you are good at link-building with web directories, people will pay you to do that for your site. Just think of the possibilities of making money online when it comes to all the skills you actually possess.

If you are a writer struggling to get content to write, start thinking outside the box as far as what you can actually offer to webmasters in order to make money. You may find yourself writing descriptions of products or writing the descriptions webmasters will use when they submit their site to web directories. The possibilities of what your capabilities actually are could be endless depending on what skills you possess.

Make a list of all the things you can do for websites and list the benefits of what it will do for the website. If it is meant to gain traffic, then write that down. If it is meant to get the website ranked better with a search engine, write it down. This will help you when it comes time to advertise your services. Knowing what they can do for your clients when they ask will help you to know your service better and sound more professional. Being professional and offering a good service to people will keep them coming back to you when they need help. Webmasters will also tell their webmaster friends about your service and soon you will have more freelance work than you ever dreamed of.

Good luck with whatever service you choose to offer and if this post has inspired you to try some new way of making money, leave a comment letting us know about it. Leaving a comment also helps me to get the feedback I need to continue writing about how to make money freelancing.

Roll up, Roll Up, free stuff available, just read the blog, answer a simple question and you too could own a wonderwidget. If wonder widgets really existed you may well be incentivised to read further, or from the title you may be invested enough in the topic to read further. I am giving two things away with this blog, a nonexistent prize, and a nugget of potentially useful information. Depending on your level of investiture, for example if you dearly want to own a wonder widget, or are looking for ways to incentivise you blogs, you will probably finish the article.

Incentives are an important part of writing a successful blog, be your motives for profit or pleasure, and picking the right incentives is an important part of any serious blogger. People are motivated by an almost infinite number of different things but there are a few general areas which motivates us all. The following cover the main reasons someone will invest time in reading your blog.

Gain

People will read your blog if they feel that they will gain something, hopefully as you are reading this you will feel a sense of gaining an insight into how to incentives your blog (If not then I apologise for wasting your time, you may go.) Or you may be really interested in a nonexistent prize (really, I made wonder widgets up, ok.) Gain is the enrichment, in terms of material possession or knowledge.

Similarity of Interest

I agree with you, your views and your world philosophy, therefore I am emotionally invested in what you have to say. We are drawn, by the basic grouping instinct to people similar to ourselves, and on the internet, because the medium ignores physical similarities; we are drawn towards similarity of ideas and philosophies. If you are writing in a niche the chances are, with the amount of material published daily on the internet, that there is still strong competition for readership. One thing will draw people toward you, the strength and similarity of idea that you share with your readership. Putting this into a personal context, as I am a libertarian at heart, with strong pacifistic beliefs, I am very unlikely to read any seriously right wing views, whatever the topic context they are put in.

Perspective

The most successful blogs (in my opinion) are ones which allow a reader to gain, or maintain a perspective. The incentive of providing a sounding board upon which others can layer their perspectives is one which work well as a style.

This is of course a very general introduction to the psychology of incentives and their effect on readers of Blogs. Coming up soon a more in-depth look at competitions (material gains) and Intellectual Incentives.

Ways to Make Money Online Freelancing

Jan 13th 2008 - Posted by Mary Stage

When it comes to a way to make money online by freelancing, there are several choices depending on your skill level. You may start out like I did by simply writing web content in the form of articles and blog posts for various webmasters just to get your feet wet. Once you start freelancing your skills to make money online, you will learn of many other opportunities available to you.

There will be other services that you can fill for webmasters who are too busy with their own schedules to do the tasks they need to do in order to have a successful website. Once they find out they can rely on you to complete these things for them, they will constantly call on your services to help them out. The webmasters who develop new sites are the best ones to work with because they are constantly needing new information and services that you can do for them.

Currently I offer a submission service to over 500 directories to add to my freelance writing income. Many webmasters have used my submission service and found great success with having their links in that many directories. If you want more information on this service just drop me line here in the comments and I’ll send you the info you need to know about it.

Finding the work is the hardest part of freelancing work. If you are new to the field, you may have a rough start while you gain a reputation for doing good work. Once people start referring you for your quality work, the money will come rolling in.

The bulk of my freelance work comes straight out of the popular Digital Point Forum. You don’t often see me posting for work there or replying to threads where people are asking for work because I stay busy enough that I don’t have to anymore, but in the beginning I replied to every topic started that involved freelance writing of some kind.

Of course there are many other places for you to find work online but I’ve had the best success with DP.

If you find yourself looking for a way to make money online freelancing, then please take article writing and other web content into consideration, as it has done tremendous things for my income over the last year or so and I know that you can do it to if you can offer quality work and enjoy learning about new topics.

Let me know if you need any help getting started as I am always close to my computer and would love to help you find success through freelancing your skills.

Top 5 Easiest Ways to Make 10-50$ by Freelancing

Nov 28th 2007 - Posted by Ahson Rafiq

Thought i should break it down since i will be releasing a Free Money Book soon that will have tips on how to make money online, so here i go.

Before i tell you what you should do, you should know how to handle yourself as a Freelancer online..here are some tips for that..

  1. Be professional and precise about what you are offering and what you want for it.
  2. Do-not act petty for the smallest amounts of money, yes you need money but its not worth your dignity.
  3. Money first - then you do the work - Always! (Unless you are very unknown in that community or to the buyer)
  4. Never go against your word, ever!
  5. Never bluff/lie/promote your own self to such an extent that you can’t live up to the height. - Know your limits.

Now lets get down to the money making tips..these are incredibly simple and obvious to be honest..

  1. Link Services - Here you will have to do services such as directory submissions and social bookmarking for sites and/or go on a blog commenting spree on high profile blogs with your client’s url/title so that they get the link love and you get paid for it, so here are some of the services in this area that CAN be done..Directory Submissions
    Social Bookmarking (digg,delicious,stumble..etc)
    Blog Commenting
    Article Submissions
  2. Paid Posting - The most needed service by webmasters on the net is usually content creation, specially on CMS or Forum platforms, so if you have a good control over English and a can talk about any topic then this is the best choice for you. Here are some jobs that you could to get some minimal income coming in..Forum Posting
    Blog commenting
    Content Posting (images..etc)

If you have people who can help you do forum posting then you can definitely make a full time job out of forum posting.

  3. Member Generation - This used to be a really popular niche back in 2006 when there was a flood of forums everywhere on every single niche you can ever imagine of and people wanted content and members so they started paying for members rather then forum posts/threads, usually people who become webmasters have a good number of friends online from communities that is not directly connected to webmaster-ing/mmo so this is the best place to utilize that, make your friends sign up on other boards and get paid for it.

Anything can be sold if you have the right pitch.

  4. Designing - This is probably the lowest paid job you can ever get online if you are just starting out, so do this only if you have the time to spare, its better if you design for yourself since its cheaper and you save a little amount of money but if you have to make some money designing then go for banners and logos, don’t do templates since it has more variables to be dealt with whereas logos and banners can be tackled with and made more easily and sold for $5-$10 a pop. Premade banners help in sales too!

As an extension to this service you can also do watermaks on images so that people may use them on their image/wallpaper sites..etc

  5. Selling Resources - This is my favourite trick to make some quick cash, selling resources and information that webmasters need direly is the best niche for freelancers, here are some related jobs/sale items to this..
    • Info on PR5+ sites that allow Do-Follow FREE links
    • Info on Edu/Gov links where webmasters can get D0-Follow FREE links
    • Content packs (images,articles,ebooks..etc) - these are cheap to buy from forums and you can sell them at 1-2$ easily..
    • Reselling scripts.
